A Very Clear and Present Danger

I have been watching the news and updated information on the insurrection that occurred last Wednesday, January 6th. Be Afraid. Be Very Afraid. Covid-19 is not the only thing we have to fear in this country today. I had let the knowledge of these horrors go to the back of my mind and now I am updating my knowledge of them. A noose was hanging on the capitol grounds. Rioters yelling "Hang Mike Pence!" One rioter openly carried a bundle of zip ties in one hand. Policemen are beaten. Supremacists proud to take over the capitol and killed two policemen. It could have been much worse. Trump is now trying to cover up what happened. If you aren't familiar with some of the white supremacist groups I am adding a link to what I feel is a very informative article on the history of them, names of many, and their philosophies. Many of these groups are highly militarized and, I am sad to admit, that my home state, Idaho, is home to the Aryan Nations which is one of the most established groups in the United States.

That's terrible. They should be united for one cause that's to support the winning candidate like Biden.

Like you, I try to push the thoughts of these people to the back of my mind. I think we need to not put our heads in the sand.

Northern Idaho has groups like the Posse Commitatas. Spelled wrong. Not folks to mess with. I just want that snake in chief out. Gone.

You realize Trump was 2 miles away at the ellipse which is where 100s of thousands of supporters were gathered? You also realize nearly all of those supporters were not there to cause trouble, did not cause trouble and left after Trumps speech? You also realize that it was Trump supporters who tried to stop some of the violence and protect police? What happened was a disgrace definitely. How it was reported was also disgraceful although maybe a little understandable in the heat of the moment. The rioters were the same ones/groups that have been causing problems for months and they are NOT Trump supporters. Although there may have been a few misled by that faction. All of the trouble makers need to be rounded up and it is my understanding that that is exactly what is happening. Yay! But Trump supporters as a whole are not the enemy, don't be fooled. I ask myself why did Bowser reject offers from the DOJ and National Guard the day before? That was just plain dumb or calculated. Take your pic. Also why were police sent home that morning? Smells very fishy to me. They knew Trump supporters were coming to the ellipse and also knew those gangsters were going to show up to cause trouble. Common sense would have had them prepared, instead they paved the way. Hmmmm?

Sounds fishy to me as well. i don't think Trump, or his supporters, were out to do anything good or honest.

@celticeagle They were there to fight for their rights, not with violence but according to the law by peacefully protesting. The gangs were there to take advantage of the situation and they were the violent mob. Had the protesters stormed the capitol they absolutely would have succeded as there were many many thousands there.

Thanks God I do not believe that all Trump supporters are also White Supremacists, the number of those fanatics is always less than it appears, but surely enough to worry the whole world.

@celticeagle I agree, but unfortunately are all the time the trouble makers that are causing the most damage.

I've no doubt white supremacists formed a part of the group that invaded the Capitol building but not sure how big a part. Being a Trump supporter doesn't necessarily make you a white supremacist as I believe Trump gets support from a number of different groups and individuals. White supremacy groups are bad in my opinion but so are radical Antifa groups such as BLM.

The fringe groups are what caused all the problems. Most of the rioters were probably not your everyday Trump supporters...at least I hope not!
