Paper Towels Can Be Mighty Handy To Use

Paper towels are a must have in my house for cleanup. From cleaning spills to cleaning off counter tops and appliances this absorbent product really makes moping up messes a breeze. But did you know paper towels have some other uses in the kitchen? For instance I've used them after rinsing chicken breasts to pat them dry. And I've used paper towels to keep vegetables fresh. If you place a paper towel sheet into a lettuce container or line it into the crisper drawer it keeps produce fresh longer. The towels absorb the moisture released by the veggies as their stored. A bonus... they also keep your drawer from getting messy. Some other uses: drying my hands after washing, cleaning my bathroom mirrors, lining your microwave to catch spills and crumbs. So, how do you utilize paper towels in your home? Any suggestions on other ways to use them ? Source Info- Handyman Photo- paper towel- bounty

I'm the wierdo in the crowd. Stand up and punch me. I haven't had paper towels in my house for over twenty years. I used to drive my Mom bananas cause I did not have paper towels.

@sallypup We used less paper towels in the past year. There was a shortage of paper towels in the stores, so I ended up buying a bunch of little kitchen towels for the messes. Is that what you use?

When I run out of toilet paper, I make strips of paper towel and use them to wipe...important surfaces.

I use paper towels to clean up the spills in the kitchen and not usually anything else other than picking up cat waste.

I see. I also find them useful when frying foods on the stove like bacon. You can lay the strips on the towels to catch oil.

@dgobucks226 As a matter of fact I spilled something this morning and used my paper towels to clean it up. I have used them to put in the vegetable bin in the fridge for the vegetables. I also have used them to line shelves too.

Yes, so many different uses! I'm always finding something in need of a paper towel cleanup. Helpful hint: If you don't already, make sure to change the paper towel from your crisper with each new batch of produce you buy, otherwise the towels will become too saturated, limp, and useless.

I agree with you on the many uses of paper towels. We also use them.when.frying. After taking from frying pan we put them on paper towels to drip off oil. I also use it as subsitute soil.and grew some cactus.

I use paper towels for certain vegetables too (especially Persian cucumbers). When I pack lunches, I use some under fruits (like strawberries) to keep it from getting mushy by lunch. It's good for catching oil after cooking bacon and fried foods (not that I do a lot of that). Honestly, I've tried to use less paper towels in the past year (to conserve as there was a shortage out here for a while). I ended up buying a bunch of small fabric kitchen towels for clean ups .

I did the same buying a package of handy wipes. But when they started having them I keep buying every week. Now, I've got a basement full of them They are great for catching spills from fried foods. If you use coffee filters and run short In a pinch you can use paper towels as coffee filters.

I use very little, only if it is necessary, I try to help the planet and the trees and the process of bleaching the paper is extremely polluting. I use old towels to keep the vegetables fresh in the refrigerator, I wash and replace.

I only use paper towel to keep the veggie fresh. To drain oil from food, I use metal strainer. That way I can reuse the oil that drip.

I use paper towels as napkins. I also use them to dry off my cat's food bowls when I wash them. When my boyfriend visits, he uses them to dry off the plates he uses when he washes them.
