My husband and stepson are away for the weekend

We have only had one day of in person school this week due to so many snow days. I made two new recipes this week. Last night for dinner I made the guys “Chili-Pasta Skillet” from my Better Homes and Gardens cookbook. My son liked it but my husband and stepson said it had no flavor. For about 5 months oatmeal had me running to the toilet. The past few days I’ve been able to eat granola I had in the food cupboard. It’s all gone so I decided to make homemade granola using a recipe in the same cookbook as last nights dinner. I got it all done and cooled and put into a 5lb. empty cleaned out peanut butter jar. I set it in the cupboard and somehow didn’t set it in there correctly as it fell to the floor. The plastic lid broke completely apart and half the granola fell on the floor and had to be thrown out . Darn it how this pregnancy makes me drop everything. So my husband, my stepson, their three beagles and their lab went to Maryland today. They are staying at my mother and father in laws house to visit and to go hunting down there. They will be coming home Monday sometime. We are supposed to get more snow Monday. The photo is of the book I am reading. I no longer like romance books like this but when my husband and I were trying for a baby and I saw them in a little free library I grabbed them. Now I feel I have to read them. It’s okay but really I’d rather be reading something else. I read 10 other books so far this year.

I'm sorry the granola got away from you, hon... Pretty does that a lot and she's not pregnant... she just can't reach the higher shelves in the kitchen. (I put stuff on the highest shelves so she'll leave it alone. If I don't she eats all the stuff I buy for me which leaves me with the stuff she buys . *sigh* Then, she won't close the packages up or close the cabinet door(s). She claims she'll just be right back in there, so why bother. I tell her because it makes me mad to go into the kitchen and have to close the packages and doors behind her. She just shrugs at me. ) Sounds like you might have some free time on your hands... have you considered heading down here to visit me? I promise to feed you good food and to not let you do all of the cleaning I don't like to do myself.

@Daddyevil that drives me absolutely nuts when people don’t close the packages up. My husband is awful about that. It gets stale and in the spring we are going to have ants come in and they will get in the containers and the food will have to be thrown away. All I can eat is vegan food it isn’t very fun. How is the weather where you are? We got snow last night so that deterred my grocery shopping today.

@DaddyEvil laziness is about what I’d sum it up as. It’s been in the 20s here I believe. We are getting more stinking snow tomorrow.

@shaggin We buy the big bags of cereal... I have to get some of it right away or she gets some out and leaves the bags puffed full of air so it's stale when I go to get more... I complain about that and she tells me she never leaves the bags full of air. She told me that yesterday while I was pressing the air out of my bag of cheerios that she left it full of. *sigh* I don't understand what's so difficult about pressing the air out of the bags before you seal them back up? Yup! And she hates ants as much as I do but won't think about them until they show up and get into everything, then screams that they're in our food! *shake my head* And now you know why I keep food in my bedroom closet. I don't let her get into that so I still have good food after she messes up everything in the kitchen. It is 43 F outside so the snow is finely melting off. Yesterday, it was -3 F when I woke up and climbed to 13 F by afternoon. That's how the temps have been here for the last week and snow fell every day. I'm getting sick of snow!

@snowy22315 I have made chili Mac before. I think today since I'm not going shopping I will make myself vegetarian Crock-Pot chili. Hopefully I have all the ingredients. If I lack one I'll grab it at the local supermarket where I need to buy my son some juice.

It's too bad about the granola. I hate when I miss stuff like that too. I hope you have a nice time with your kids this weekend. Other than doing things are you now doing any better with the pregnancy?

@Marshamusselman My nausea is gone I’d say except for short bouts of it now and then usually after eating. I did some exercising last night. The exercises are to strengthen my core as I think I’m developing Diastasis Recti.

@MarshaMusselman I’ve had the hernia since my first child but I will definitely be talking to the doctor about it at my next appointment.

@shaggin you may want to ask your doctor about that as it doesn't usually show up until after delivery and not in the early stages of pregnancy. I know that I have a hernia that feels like it's under my ribs but it's actually near my navel. I was told if I lost weight it would heal and I've lost weight and it seems worse in certain positions.

I read romance in my teen years. I like serial killer, some autobiographies, mystery and occasional silly stuff. Is the book good so far?

@noni1959 it was okay. I finished it last night before bed. I'm going to start one by Debbie Macomber today. I do really enjoy mysteries and serial killer things. I tend to bounce around genres. I get bored if I stick to one genre for more then a few books.

@shaggin I bounce but like real crime more. I'm getting ready to read one of the books I picked up from a fund raiser yesterday. It's Oprah's "Live Your Best Life." After this one, I'll start Stephen King's "Institution."

If you are not enjoying the book do not feel obliged to read it. I am sorry for your granola, what a shame you had to throw part of what you made.

@LadyDuck I did finish it and a glad it's done. It was okay I just don't enjoy reading those books much anymore. I prefer other ones then those super cheesy romance ones. The granola ingredients were pretty expensive so I was bummed to drop half.

@Marilynda1225 I don't like reading Harlequin romances anymore but I enjoy ones by Debbie Macomber and Danielle Steele. Those aren't as cheesy and predictable.

@Courtlynn yep two in here and three that live outside. He wants to get a female puppy soon too. His one dog had me up most the night a few nights ago barking. I don't want anymore! This entire pregnancy I drop and spill things constantly it's so frustrating. I think for some reason my hands are weaker. My husband says when I gave him a back massage it felt like normal girl hands and usually he says how rough I am we call them my man hands lol.

@Courtlynn if it were my choice I wouldn’t get one but he doesn’t care. He sleeps through most of the dogs barking out there but I don’t and I doubt the neighbors do either. He has barking collars he can put on them and most the time he doesn’t use them. I asked him too after the one night they kept me up all night but he didn’t go out and put them on thankfully it was a cold night so they all stayed in their houses with the heating pad the next night and didn’t make a sound.

@prinzcy my husband asked for me to massage a spot on his back that was knotted up. I did it as hard as I always do but he was shocked how weak it was. I'm guessing that's why I'm dropping things my hand strength is too weak now that I am pregnant for some reason.
