Macaroni And Cheese For Lunch

I made macaroni and cheese for lunch with a small salad, it was pretty good. I enjoy eating the mac/cheese but sure do not like to clean the pot after. I first soak it in cold water and then wash it with hot soapy water. Do you enjoy cleaning a dish that had melted cheese in it?

Melted cheese is the hardest other than burnt meat. Have you tried soaking it in baking soda and vinegar?

Melted cheese is a real pain, but I like home made macaroni and cheese time by time.

The clean-up can be difficult, but there's nothing like scratch mac and cheese.

@just4him To me, leaking the spoon was for cake batter and frosting

@marlina My mother would put two or three different kinds of cheese in it. I loved eating the cheese off the spoon. When I made it, I would use different cheeses too. The best part was always the spoon.

I let the cheese peel off in the water and then I can clean it.

No I used to use a non stick pan for that but quit. Now I use stainless pans and they clean up much easier.

My answer is no. I spent far too much time yesterday taking steel wool to a skillet that had been burnt badly.

I'd have to ask my wife. She does all the dishes. But hey, I do all the cooking. As for homemade mac and cheese? Delicious. Although I hardly ever make it. I am more of a fan of it than my wife and so I usually just make it out of a box.

@marlina Similar but not Kraft. I won't pay the price for the brand name stuff. Aldi or Ruler's varieties are just as good and a fraction of the cost. I pay about 29-33 cents per box.

I don't like to wash the dishes with melted cheese or something greasy or stuck to bottom while cooking. I leave it soaked with hot water for some time before getting my hands on it.

i do not - my first job in college was as a dishwasher. We used to make this vegetarian dish with rice and cheese. It was awful to get out of the pans, and the plates!

@marlina oh yeah, we finally figured out that taking the baking dish and hitting it with a high pressure hot water spray, then dunking it in cold water made the cheese come off quickly.
