Trying again

My wide feet and me or its me and my wide feet. Even if I chose to go to Walmart for shoes, the shoes would not fit me. And would be poor quality. The better shoe store, if its still open, is at least a 2 hour drive from me, one way. Yesterday my order of pretty shoes arrived in the mail. Feminine and so lovely. The heel is narrow! Cut narrow though the shoes were advertised as extra wide. I did get my feet into the shoes. My heels immediately screamed. Guess I can put a bandaid on my heel to buffer it while I wear them. My little toes also hollered so these lovely shoes will be worn for the hour or so while I am in a restaurant- put on after I drive there, not at the house. Today I ordered a pair of orthotic sandals that are said to be extra wide and not too old lady looking. I would like to have sandals for summer. These sandals have adjustable straps and are mostly open so that my toes will have room. Wish me luck!

I feel your pain. I have learned that when ordering shoes online you need to stick with the higher end shoes like Clarks if you have special needs. I have a wide foot and high arch so for me it's going to be Clarks, I have ordered shoes from them at least once a year and haven't had a problem.

Most of my shoes are the Clarks brand, they make them in every style and for all occasions.

@rebelann I've noticed that Easy Spirit shoes are different now. I will remember about Clarks. My foot sounds like a cousin of yours! Good to hear from you @Juliaacv. I'll check Clarks out.

Uhm.. you know, when I was a kid, I heard women should be barefoot and pregnant. I think you should send those shoes back. I hope the sandals fit.

@sallypup If Pretty and I are in the house, we're barefoot... But... it's really entertaining to watch you. Yeah, they definitely make it hard to send stuff back so you'd rather keep it than go to all the hassle.

@DaddyEvil Last time I didn't fit into some shoes, I would have only gotten half my money back. It is a big hassle to drive into town to the postal store and get them to print out a return slip. Not worth my time.

@DaddyEvil I'm a bit old to be pregnant though often I am barefoot so quit spying on me! I wish it was easy to send shoes back.

I have the opposite problem - my feet are long and thin. Anything in the size I need is nearly always too wide - I slop about in them.

I'm wishing you luck! You will never catch me in old lady shoes. Ever! However, I have some great Birkenstocks and Bass sandals that I use for traveling. They are stylish and so comfy. Btw, my width is medium.

@sallypup I am lucky, but not all shoes that I love are comfy enough anymore. I hope you find some pretty and comfy ones and soon.

Good luck! The open toes are a good idea. I hope the other shoes stretch a bit.

Sorry you have this problem. I hope you can get to the better shoe store soon. Seems like maybe it would be worth the drive. Good luck on your sandals.

My mom had wide feet, and always had trouble finding shoes.

I have a wide foot also, and find that the lower priced shoes just don't cut it. I have learned my lesson and now I only buy good shoes, and always try them on first. I have not purchased any since the pandemic.

That was always my problem with shoes I needed extra wide. The only good thins was back when mom and I were in NYC that we both had the same size whose, She had very narrow feet so if I got some shoes and they still did not fit right she could wear them, Now in Florida I live in Crocs so comfortable,

I would return those shoes. I have one brand of shoes that I wear that always fit. They are fairly expensive; but they last for years. Good luck!

Did the sandals arrive yet?
