Taking care of kitties

It seems I really have to work on keeping fresh water for all.
There are litter trays to scrape. Mostly the big boys go outside. I am grateful they are using the trays, though.
They get dry food all the time, and canned food as well. I am going to mix in a little diatomaceous earth to make sure they do not have worms since they have been mostly eating wild things or trash.
I really want to go to bed, but the cat care will come first.

What is it about kitties and fresh water? Kitty will turn up her nose at yesterday's water and try to drink from my toilet. I reel in horror at the thought of the horrible things that must spew from my nether regions, even if it was hours ago, and fill up her water bowl immediately.

These kitties drink the dishes dry quickly. That is why I have to keep refilling. I would worry about the chemicals I use to clean the toilet.

The young ones are very cuddly. I cannot wait to get a comb and groom them.

We always have dry food available for the cats. The wet food is a treat and is a way to give them some medicines as well.

@GardenGerty I open a can of wet food every day and I split in two to give to the two cats.

The de is a good idea. My outside cats get it in the summer.

Since they had to live outside and there were lots of strays around I will have to do several treatments. I also need to comb them a lot.

@wolfgirl569 I do the same. Somewhere I read about putting something in your yard to kill flea eggs. I think it was lime pellets.

@GardenGerty I rub the dirt into the fur about once a week in the summer too. It helps control the fleas.

I think dogs are a lot of work. My work will decrease once I have these cats spayed and neutered and get their shots so they are safe outside.

@GardenGerty My dogs truly aren't a lot of work. But they do require the basics daily which does take some of my time but not a lot of it.

Cat care always comes first. If it doesn't, they'll let you know you're being remiss.

If it does not get done first, it will end up being worse.

I think they will. They are not tiny kittens, but more like teenagers.

I have always had cats. I tried usually to keep it down to three or fewer, but at times when I was growing up we had a lot more.

So sorry for Fred kitty. Are your kitties in a wide age range? We think Mickey is the oldest here, Lady and Bibsy at less than a year old are the youngest. Angel is older than Tinker and we think he will be two in July or so.

We always had cats when I was growing up, and sometimes it was way too many.

@GardenGerty We had a lot on the farm. Most stayed around the sheds. They got milk morning and evening when the cows were milked but mostly looked after themselves. We don't have extremes of weather here so they were fine as regards places to sleep and shelter.
