A Little Saturday Morning Adventure

Yesterday at work it was my turn to stay and wait for the Spee-Dee guy to pick up our boxes for shipment. Lo and behold, one box that was supposed to go UPS mistakenly got tossed into the Spee-Dee box. Dagnabbit. But no worries. I dropped it off at the UPS dropbox up the street from our shop. The customer really wanted his parts delivered on Monday. Somewhere along the line the boss stopped back by the dropbox a bit after 6pm (pickup is at 6) and the box was still there. So he picked it up and put it into his truck, then texted myself and the other salesman in the office. "Who wants the OT to deliver this package on Monday?" We went back and forth and I decided I had no plans for Saturday, Todd would be in shop today, and I would just deliver it myself. We run 9 1/2 states in our branch, so luckily this one was only going to Wentzville in Missouri. We are on the Illinois side of the Mississippi. So, it's about two hours away. So, I will have a little adventure.

@porwest It happened to me when I misjudge the volume of task to complete.

Not too bad of a ride. I misjudged a bit. It's actually only about a little more than an hour away. Wife and I spent some time just tooling around St. Charles a bit, which is east of Wentzville.

Nothing like a little road trip to break up the weekend.

It was actually a nice little break from the usual grocery stores on the weekends. We found some things to do and had a good time.

@porwest I can't blame you, if we let ourselves get too routine it's never a good thing.

@kaylachan It is part of the reason I REALLY, REALLY want to get an RV. Just hook up and go for the weekends. Find a few places only a few hours away and just get out of Dodge. It's not that I cannot afford it. I am just not ready to spring for the cost just yet, and I am looking for an awesome deal.

Yeah. I took that picture a few years ago on my way to a quarry. I thought it was a nice shot and so I took a picture. I use it from time to time. As for our day, I delivered the parts to the customer and then the wife and I tooled around St. Charles a bit which is east of Wentzville. We had a good time.

How did the delivery run go? And what the heck does Dagnabbit mean? Is that a Southern thing?

@porwest It's certainly an interesting word. I hope I remember how to spell it. Might come in handy.

It went well. Got a little extra money, and the wife and I just spent a little time tooling around town. It was fun. As for dagnabbit, it basically means confounded. Can mean the same as dammit or just put God in front of that. I believe it might be a southern thing. A word used in place of a dirtier and more foul one I suspect.

Well, technically I elected myself, and I would not have been in the office today anyway.
