Let Me Just Take Care of this Problem For You

Some years back, when I used to be in commercial pest control services, I learned one thing that turned out to be quite profitable.
Bartenders are horrible at getting money into the cash registers.
On and around the bar area, when it came to pest control, there was always lots to do. You had to combat fruit flies, ants, cockroaches, and whatever other creatures might be lurking, looking for a sugary snack, some spilled beer, or an orange or a lemon slice from a spent drink that did not make it all the way into the garbage can.
And to do that you had to spend some time on your hands and knees inspecting and treating under the bar.
That's where the paydirt was.
Nearly every single time I'd find quarters, nickels, and dimes, and even sometimes whole dollars. They all went into my pocket to be taken home and given a proper send off.
Ahem.
Now, you might say that the best course of action would have been to scoop up the money and give it to the bar manager. But once I found a $20 bill under one of the bars, and I did just that.
He said thank you for finding that, folded it up, and stuck it in his pocket. In the office. Next to the cash drawers he was preparing for the day's business.
That $20 did not go back into the safe. It did not go into the bartender's tips. It did not go into the "till" so to speak. It went into the manager's pocket.
My typical haul from a bar service was about $1.25. But once I did scoop up $5 worth. I promise you I have taken very good care of the money. None of it went to waste.
Oh yeah, and I did keep them pest free as well. So, it was perhaps just a tip for MY services. Thank you very much.

Many lifetimes ago when I was a wee teenager, I worked at a grocery store. I'd often have to stay late to clean. I always got mad when I was asked to clean the register areas, because I thought the cashiers should all have to do that before they went home for the night. However, that was until I figured out you could open up a panel on the conveyor belt to get to all the dirt, debris and garbage that fell through. And cha-ching! I discovered a gold mine. It turns out that all kinds of money would find its way into there, so after that I always volunteered to clean the registers. I'd find anywhere from $1-$5 at each register each night. I was making a killing some nights.

I would have done the same with small amounts - and with bigger ones if I'd seen them go into the manager's pocket.

I'd not wanna be in the pest control business. Bugs, roaches, and such freak me out. After seeing what the manager did with the $20 I'd never give him anything I'd find again. I do wonder why you were finding coins. Are drinks not whole dollar prices?

I always say `finders keepers', but it did seem strange that he put that money into his pocket and not with the rest of the takings.
