Question For Today- Are You Lucky?

With the celebration of St. Patrick's Day today it made me think of other popular things associated with the Irish like 4-leaf clovers, leprechauns, rainbows, castles, shamrocks, and of course "luck."
Which got me to thinking about one of my luckiest experiences I ever had. It happened in Atlantic City (I'm from New Jersey) while on a trip down there with my family. After walking the boardwalk, getting some Salt Water Taffy, and taking in some sights we decided to try our luck gambling.
So we went into a nearby Casino called Caesar's and we all tried our luck at the slot machines. I tried out this Progressive "one-armed bandit" and as the nickname goes I was having very little luck. As I emptied my last $10 into the machine I started coming closer to getting all 7's. And then, I got them sending off flashing lights on the slot, ringing bells, and congrats from surrounding patrons. And the payout was $4,000 dollars! Wow I guess that was my pot of gold,
..
Of course, luck can take different forms not just monetary ones so how about sharing your luckiest experience with me? Thanks for your feedback! And Happy St. Patrick's Day! Enjoy your corn beef and cabbage washed down with a pint of Guinness,

I would say no. Every dime I have I have had to work for. The most I have EVER won in a casino was $400, and over the years I have spent way more than I have ever won, including in the lottery. If I did not have bad luck I would have no luck at all, lol

I could not agree more with your bad luck comment one I have made frequently over the years. I think I used up any good luck I had with that slot machine win but it was a special moment anyway.

@porwest You make your own luck, but really it's a by-product of all the work one puts into something. Can't help but think of those candy makers who started with an idea and persevered through tough times refining their candies. Through hard work they produced a great tasting product and found a market for it. Yes a bit of lucky timing helped, but their fortunes were made on effort not luck..

@dgobucks226 One thing I tend to say a lot about luck, is that if luck was the key to success in life there'd be at least one billionaire on the list where it would say "luck" in the "source" column. There's a reason there is not a single one that says that, and most people would be well served to not rely on it for their fortunes, but just to get to work. lol

I understand. Most times luck escapes me too. If I didn't have bad luck I'd have none at all

This may sound corny but my luckiest experience was to have met and married my late husband.

Not corny at all. One's perception of luck is their own. In my case I was the luckiest person in the world to have the parents I did.
When it comes to luck, you make your own.

Ohhh, that's a nice chunk of luck you got! I don't know if I have a "luckiest" experience like that . . . I guess I just feel fortunate things have worked out the way they did in life - I cannot complain. Yep - corned beef and cabbage for us tonight . . . and the kids had their Lucky Charms for breakfast

@dgobucks226 Oh what a lovely meme
! Hey, you never know, you could have more great luck coming to you
. Did you know you could by just the dry marshmallows? I'm still tweaking the recipe . . . trial and error . . . still living life as well as possible

Yes, I believe I've used up my luck with that win...
Those lucky kids. I always liked those little marshmallows in those lucky charms.
Ah, you have found a recipe better than luck. A life well lived

Congratulations on your win.
My lucky story, though I don't call it luck, I call it God, happened on a cross-country trip from Chicago to San Diego. I had two children at the time. I was driving. It was night. I found out the hard way, I'm not a long-distance night driver. I almost got us all killed. I fell asleep at the wheel and woke up inches from the guardrail on a mountain cliff in Arizona. My angels were at work that night. I'm very happy I'm alive to tell the tale.

I did put a bit aside, but at the time I needed the money to pay bills. But what a relief to have the cash to do so! I have yet to be anywhere near that lucky since

@dgobucks226 Ah yes. Sometimes it will happen that I have a bit of money ahead and then some bill will come - but... at least I had the money for the bill, very grateful for it

Being blessed is more important. And that makes you especially lucky to those who feel they are not.

I would say that winning $4,000 certainly was lucky. I haven't found my pot of gold yet
but I am blessed in many other ways that have nothing to do with money.
I'm embracing my Irish heritage today with corned beef & cabbage, Irish soda bread but no Guinness.
