What's with fried rice?

One of the most popular topic these days, "What are you having for breaking the fast today?"
It's always back to food
So I told them that today I would be making fried rice. Then, some of the reactions that I got were;
"Just fried rice? That's a pity!" (Why pity? I don't get it!)
"You're not making anything special?" (It is special!)
"..." (....)
What is wrong with fried rice anyway? I think fried rice is also delicious. It might be simple and easy to make, but doesn't make it any less special. Plus, there are a lot of variation for fried rice. Some are fancier than another.

This morning I had fried rice meal. I had leftover rice yesterday evening.

@marlina it is our staple food here. Rice is life. But I am reducing rice intake for now. I eat bread or pasta for 1 meal a day.

@prinzcy A lot of side dish types have only little bits of things in it - and at restaurants, it is often like that here. But the ones we make at home we add things to make it a main dish - like your fried egg (we do scrambled eggs). Then again, we are rice people .

@prinzcy there is one near us - it is amazing. we have that, Malaysian, burmese, vietnames and Cambodian near our house.
But no Chinese food. well that is good!

Fried rice could be eaten on it's own just like what you're going to do or fried rice could be taken with side dish like vegetables or fish or shrimp just like what your friends are saying.

I guess it's because of Ramadan? Do you mean others make special dishes every night after the fast for the whole month?

I like fried rice and have had it with scrambled eggs before. If you're talking about favorite topics here, we talk about any meal many times. It works if you have nothing else to talk about or want to share your food with others here.
