I enjoy going to the beach during summer. I find the fresh ocean breeze refreshing, the scenery stimulating, the sun and sand relaxing. Which got me to thinking which water place is your favorite the beach or lake?
Some like cooling off in the water best. Its a fun adventure going into the surf/water and being active. Others like the laid back atmosphere, laying in the sand or sitting on the shoreline and soaking up the sun (with suntan lotion of course). Or maybe doing some kind of water activity.
For me, I enjoy many things at the beach; walking along the shoreline, watching the seagulls and waves, working on a safe tan, and searching for unique looking sea shells.
But my favorite thing to do is enjoying that "chill out" vibe which for me is reading a magazine while listening to music with my headphones.
Which brings me to my second question... What is your favorite thing to do at the beach or lake?

@LadyDuck There is a beach in Florida that we like. It is New Smyrna Beach. It is a great beach to walk on. People will also run on it.

What type of treasure? Pirate buried treasure, lol. The beach in September here is nice and quiet. Tourism ends and you can enjoy a nice barefoot walk on the sand.

Hi, it has been a long time that I saw you here or maybe you have been here and I have not been. When I was growing up in Minneapolis since we have many lakes I had my favorite I used to go to and ride my bike around and then relax in the sun. Here in Israel we have beaches and the last time I was at one was in 2019 I believe. It is not easy to get because I have to take about two buses because we do not have beaches in Jerusalem where I live. I like to just relax get some sun and watch the people. I am a people watcher and it is just fun to sit back and watch what they do.

Yes Minnesota is very much known for its lakes and there are about 10,000 or 12,000 or maybe more now. I have no idea. I had a favorite one I loved to go to and ride my bike around and get some sun and took a picture and brought it with me. No, I do not miss Minneapolis. It was clean and green but boring. How are you? I missed you here. We moved and I hope my Sophie is happy here. I love it here. I remember when I still lived in the States and traveled to Las Vegas twice with a friend that lived in Arizona I loved to watch the people. I used to sit on our porch on our Sabbath and watch the families go up and down our hill. Now, I look for animals and there are many here. Some dogs come up to me and others just go past me. I bet that is amazing to watch the surfers. Do you live close to the beach that you go? I would have to go take about two buses if I wanted to go so do not go and sit out in the sun at home so can be close to my cat. You are so right you do not have to dress up to go to the beach. I love to put on nice things on our Sabbath. I take two walks now and enjoy them very much. Things are good and bad here where we moved. I believe that is all I will say because there are watchers that like to know what I say or write.

@Hannihar Thanks so much for your response. Glad to hear things are going alright for you. Walking is great exercise. I enjoy walking along the boardwalk for 30 minutes most evenings. I've been busy with other things so I'm not as active as before. But I still manage to put in some time most days on My Lot. I usually post something every Saturday.
It's most important to enjoy where you live and be comfortable there. Fortunately, you've found some thng that are good where you are. I live a short car trip 15 minutes from the beach so in the warm weather I take advantage. I also like riding my bike through the towns and by their lakes. Nice scenery and like you I enjoy watching people as I ride.
Never been to Las Vegas but have been to Atlantic City. But I would think Vegas is much better for tourists. Oh yes, the surfers are excellent. They even have a professional surfing tournament here in September. Well, you take care and I'm sure I'll come across one of your posts.

Hello Hanni! Hope all is well with you. I am also a people watcher in between reading my favorite magazines. I enjoy watching the surfers catch waves and the gulls circling overhead. Just a very relaxing time. Isn't Minnesota known for it's many Lakes?

I stay out of the sun as much as possible; and with my mobility issues, I haven't been to Lake Erie in years. My preference would be the Florida Keys! I could sit in the shade and admire the color of the water, the birds, etc.

@LindaOHio No, wish we could of gone to the end. Quite a long drive over water with a very low bridge. I think we all got spooked after awhile, and wanted to explore and camp, lol.

It doesn't really matter as long as water looks clean and safe for swimming.

@hotsummer No shark attacks by me are rare. Only six shark attacks have occurred since 1975, and all of those were non-fatal, according to the Shark Institute.

I have a choice of two where I live, To the right within walking distance is the beach and to the left the riverside, not the lake but the river is good too.

There's a favorite lake near here that I went to a lot when I was a kid. I haven't been there since high school. I don't even know if I know how to get there. It's about an hour from where I live. It's a nice shallow lake and where I first learned to swim. So, my favorite thing to do at the beach - swim.

@dgobucks226 During the last family reunion with my grandfather, my mother's family came out with their water toys. My uncle had a boat with water ski equipment. He let everyone have a try except for those too young. My cousin was a natural. I went down soon after I got up.

Sounds like you have fond memories there. I remember visiting my cousin and trying water skiing at their lake. Not very good at it but it was fun trying.
Water activities like boating or surfing are popular ways to have fun and cool off at the beach on a hot summer day.

I like going to the beach since my time living in Panama my relatives and myself would go to visit River Sea (Rio Mar) near San Carlos to enjoy the sights of the bamboo huts and the ocean.

@dgobucks226 It was very nice for the reasons you mentioned. Too bad River Sea beach was closed a few years ago since the land in the area is now occupied by new apartments.

@dgobucks226 lol. I mean, if I want to go fishing, I will go to a lake. Unless I want to go deep sea fishing, then I might go to the ocean. If I want to swim, a lake is probably more suited to that while the beach is better for wading.
I mean, is there really a simple answer here? lol

I like both, but I guess I feel more freedom at the beach. Lakes are peaceful, but activity is a bit limited (I wouldn't swim or play in it here, not the cleanest). But I like visiting any body of water. I just love walking around and exploring . . . it drives me nuts to stay in one spot for too long.

One of the best things is walking along the water's edge. Looking out at the boats in the water, watching children playing in the surf, and feeling the water cooling my feet as I walk is very relaxing. And very uplifting!

I would suggest taking a ride down to the Rio Grande river to cool off but I imagine it's really crowded with unwelcome visitors these days.

I used to love going to the beach when I was younger. But I don't anymore. We have a place here called White Lake. I used to love going there. I loved sitting on the pier at look at the water. I also loved the pavilion there at White Lake.

Nothing like looking out at the boats on the lake floating along on calm waters. Very peaceful for sure! I enjoy the beach still but definitely went in the water more as a kid than now. Body surfing was a lot of fun and building sand castles. I also enjoyed the lake spending time fishing off the pier and attempting to water ski, lol.

Do you ever collect the seashells? My Mom used to create art with the seashells she collected. And finding a large shell that you can put up to your ear and hear the sound of the quiet roar of waves crashing on a distant beach is really cool!

Yes, during in season the beach can become very crowded. Weekends are a mob scene where I live. One benefit of going to either place, you don't need to dress up to go
