We have a new bench now

I mentioned before that, now we’re living in the city, it’s easier to catch up, and keep up, with old friends. A couple came to visit us yesterday. They were keen to see our new home.
We visited them last week. The husband is a Vietnam vet with attendant problems but busies himself in a well-set-up workshop. He made this bench which now graces our patio area. It’s a bit different but that’s okay. We don’t mind different.
We showed the clubhouse and the pile of items nearby which are awaiting the kerbside pickup. He found two very nice chair frames and Vince picked up a small worktable that can be widened or shortened. We left ours behind but this one will be quite useful.
He has offered Vince the use of workshop and tools if ever he needs them so that was nice of him. We are going to a niece’s 48th birthday barbecue later today then staying with her father, (Vince’s brother) and attending a 70th birthday on Sunday. Never a dull moment at the moment.

@JudyEv I'm glad and you're welcome. My tush gets tired after sitting on a wooden bench for too long. Cushions would be a nice addition.

Enjoy the parties that you are going to.
Curious as to why the back rest was made like that.

The weekend went very well but I think we might be going to bed early tonight. We're both a bit tired.

@JudyEv I love unique pieces. If we actually stayed in one place for any real period of time, I think that I'd have acquired some, but we move every little bit. Getting a nice home in a decent area seems to be the impossible dream here.

@wilsongoddard Hopefully we're at the end of our tether here, so to speak. We're in our mid-70s so I can't see us moving again.

@JudyEv - I LOVE that bench. It is very unique and will be a perfect way to enjoy time outdoors with friends. It is beautiful. In the glass door next to the bench, am I seeing a reflection of your patio, or am I looking through the door to another patio area? I couldn't tell in the photo.

@JudyEv - It looks like a nice size patio. with a view of the street. Since your climate is similar to ours, I am sure you will get a lot of use out of your outdoor spaces there. My husband and I just went to Home Depot and bought some bricks to extend our small patio. Since our original patio was converted to a sunroom, our remaining patio is pretty tiny. I have wanted to extend it for a couple of years. I am very pleased with how the brick extension looks, and I think I will stop by Home Depot tomorrow and get more of the bricks. We still have a little more space we can extend into, and I want to take advantage of it! It was a cheap and easy change, and we did it ourselves!

@DeborahDiane Good for you. We might need blinds/curtains of some sort on ours for the summer. We have some paving to do down the side of the house too but we can expand too much.

I like the bench, very creative! New friends, nice! Have a splendid time at your parties! My weekend, quiet, though in America, it's Columbus day weekend. Just saw post, at Canada it's Thanksgiving weekend.

@oahuwriter We have a day to celebrate the landing of Europeans but we don't call it Thanksgiving. We used to call it Australia Day but our indigenous people are objecting and calling it Invasion Day (when the whites invaded their land) so we have a holiday but the new name hasn't really been determined yet.
