How Often Do You Eat Canned Meat?

United States
November 15, 2021 2:29pm CST
Do you eat canned meat, and how often. We went shopping about two weeks ago, and bought a lot of canned meat. The reason was, last year, when we lost power, a lot of stuff in the freezer spoiled. The only ones happy about that was our dogs. I used to work with a lady, and she said that's all her and her husband buys. She said they always had something to eat. The reason I asked is because, there were people who lost electricity, when we did and they out, just giving meat away, to keep it from spoiling, she gave me a turkey. Here, we live in a small so all of us was into it. So, do you eat a lot of canned meat? One more thing she seems to be prosperous, it makes me wonder.

No We don't eat canned meat.at all or not very often. We get fresh meat so cheap that canned meat is not really an option. It is handy to have in stock in our houses in case of long power cuts. We do not have a big stock of tins. My pal has He is a doomsday.scenario type of guy. He has tons of food.

We're vegetarians, so we definitely don't. Since power outages haven't been a problem here, I don't actually have a real stock of things on hand right now that can be easily be prepared without cooking. There are probably some snack items in the cabinet-- nuts, dried fruits, and such. Then, of course, there are veggies such as carrots. However, I think that is pretty much the extent of it.

If there is canned tuna or canned chicken in the pantry, I'll eat it. But I don't go out of my way to eat it.

@popciclecold - So far in Austin, Texas, the weather has been incredible! But I am watching the weather reports in other parts of the country and it's unbelievable! Floods, fires, winter storms! I hope those people were prepared.

I buy canned chicken and Pretty buys canned tuna. I don't know how often she eats that... I eat the canned chicken every couple of weeks, maybe... I put it into chicken salad, which lasts me two or three days. (Pretty claims it stinks... I think the canned tuna stinks, so I guess we're even on that score. )

@popciclecold I can see why when the electricity went out that the dogs enjoyed the food. I can understand why you eat or people eat canned meat. It makes sense. I do not but can understand others do it if the electricity goes out a lot or if enjoy meat in a can.

Sometimes, we do canned goods, especially if everyone is busy and no one wants to cook. Canned meat is easy to reheat quickly. My fave is canned corned beef, we mix it with cubed potatoes and we have now a delicious dish.

That's rough, when electricity out for a long while! So good of everyone sharing! Hawaii the home of Spam Jam, yes, a lot of canned meat is eaten. But I cut it up and freeze it. Sandwich, slices with ramen, slices with stir fry veggies. Corn beef in can, tuna not a meat but it's in a can which I love to eat in lettuce wraps or munch with celery sticks. Canned vegetables to make a vegetable stew with, I know, it's not meat, but it's in a can. I like canned mushrooms simmered in butter & sprinkle with garlic salt, yum. We are under hurricane watch for 6 months and urged to have an emergency food ready for 2 wks eating, si canned & package foods a must have. Luckily those foods getting healthier too. Don't forget can openers.
