Seafood for Christmas lunch

The photo shows our Christmas lunch. We were due to go to Vince’s sister’s place for dinner so, on Christmas morning, we slept in for a while then had lunch on our own – crayfish, smoked salmon, prawns and salad. The crayfish was a real extravagance but, as it turned out, we could only eat half our serve so we were able to have the rest the next day – in which case it wasn’t such an extravaganze after all. Later in the afternoon, we went to Vince’s sister’s place for dinner. It was a very hot day but we ate outside and had air-conditioning at night in our bedroom so all was well.

I am glad you both enjoyed the visit with Vince's sister and her hubby, though.

Our son loved South Park but we never watched. We're dinosaurs as far as TV shows go.

@JudyEv I deleted that part just a minute ago. I got worried you'd be offended.

We like the crayfish, not easy to find here, we need to go to IKEA to buy them frozen. your lunch sounds beautiful.

@JudyEv Aldi used to sell them (non frozen) but I suppose that they are not popular here. They stopped importing them.

@LadyDuck Most of ours are sold to China. When you can get them they are expensive.

These were frozen although, down at the wharf, they were selling fresh ones off the backs of boats. They are only allowed to do that at Christmas.

It looks good. I'm glad it wasn't the extravagance you expected with leftovers the next day. I'm glad you had a wonderful Christmas.

Yes, that was the surf part but after that, I didn't have room for the turf part.

@Ronrybs I couldn't tackle one either. I always read the dessert menu and if there is something really delicious then I'll just order an entree so I have room for dessert. Although others tell me that dessert goes to a different part of the stomach so you always have room for it.

@JudyEv I don't think I have ever done a surf and turf meal. I, too, usually feel full after the first half

We have quite small serves now we're older so some 'meats' aren't too expensive per serve. For a special occasion, we could afford a crayfish now.

Could you digest three kinds of fish, especially sea fish in one meal. At least I can't. The day I take non-veg which I only take for lunch I feel heavy. I hardly take anything in the evening.
