Did you know that this Wednesday is National Kiss A Ginger Day! That's right, for all those Redheads who were teased for the color of their hair, here's some good news for you to rejoice in! I will have a couple of Gingers to blow kisses to on this special National Day. My niece who lives in the northeastern U.S., and my good friend, she lives closer, and I just might deliver that kiss in person. It takes a recessive gene found in both parents to be able to produce a red-haired child. Even then, only 1 in 4 children will wind up with ginger colored hair. Most natural-born redheads have brown eyes. Do you know which eye color is associated with the "rarest" red heads? So, who out there is a RED HEAD? Those who use a bottle to get that effect don't count. Can you name any famous redheads? Let's compare lists... Source-

Two of my brothers, one sister and I are all red-headed. We all have green eyes. My daughter is red-headed and has green eyes. I have no idea what the rarest eye color is for a red-headed person, though.

I would think green eyes would be the rarest or even those with gray eyes. I haven't met a ginger since high school but she had green eyes.

Blue eyed red-headed people are the rarest ones. In my family, all the red-heads have green eyes.

Green followed brown as most common. Coming in at 1% of the world’s population, the blue-eyed ginger is the rarest kind. Can you think of a famous red head?

Ha, ha... Gingers are rare worldwide compared to other hair colors, thus the celebration. Fun fact: Coming in at 1% of the world’s population, the blue-eyed ginger is the rarest kind. Other Famous Redheads: Prince Harry, Lucille Ball, Queen Elizabeth I.

Hmmm, it seems some might object to be called a ginger. Red heads kind of run in my mother's side of the family.

Yes, I can see how a sensitive soul might take exception to such an unusual description. I wonder who came up with that term anyway? Wow, any of them blue eyed? Fun fact: Coming in at 1% of the world’s population, the blue-eyed ginger is the rarest kind. Other Famous Redheads: Prince Harry, Lucille Ball, Queen Elizabeth I.

I personally think red hair is beautiful. People like to tease those who are unique. Maybe they are jealous? Other Famous Redheads: Prince Harry, Lucille Ball, Queen Elizabeth I. Annie, Ron Howard, Molly Ringwald, Reba McEntire.

Famous red head? Prince Harry and Robert Redford. No red heads in my family, not very common in this part of Switzerland. Well I will kiss the cat of my neighbors, lovely boy!

@dgobucks226 I do not know who "Annie" is, the cat in the photo is the ginger cat of my neighbors, Bubi.

We couldn't help noticing the number of redheads in Scotland and Ireland when we were there. Red-headed men in Australia are often nicknamed 'Blue'. Go figure. We named our ginger cat Blue too.

@dgobucks226 I didn't know Winston Churchill had red hair. I think he was bald in most of the photos I saw of him. Or maybe it was so long ago they only had black and white photography!

That's a cool name for a cat Yes, very interesting. I wonder if most of the world's red heads reside in the United Kingdom. Fun fact: Coming in at 1% of the world’s population, the blue-eyed ginger is the rarest kind. Other Famous Redheads: Prince Harry, Lucille Ball, Queen Elizabeth I. Winston Churchill, Julianne Moore, Mark Twain.

You just named two! Good for you I always thought Red Skelton was funny and Red Buttons too. Guess with a first name of red they had to have red hair, lol. Fun fact: Coming in at 1% of the world’s population, the blue-eyed ginger is the rarest kind. Other red heads: George Custer, The Little Mermaid, Shawn White. Annie, Ron Howard, Molly Ringwald, Reba McEntire.

@CarolDM Yes, you do forget about ones from years ago. Lucille Ball was referred to lovingly as that wacky red head although she was not born with that "I Love Lucy hair color." It was a much lighter shade, lol.
