Curious or Nosey?

About a week ago a ' for sale sign ' appeared on the lawn on the house diagonally across the street from me. I was surprised to see that they intend on moving but I don't know them other than to wave hello, etc. So, no idea why they're moving even though I'm curious. Since we live in a community the houses here sell fairly fast and I was wondering what price they have their house listed for. So, being either curious (or nosey) I went online and looked. Not only did I get a ballpark idea of what my house would sell for (not that I'm moving) but they had a whole bunch of pictures of the inside so I got to take a virtual tour of their house. I have to say it's beautifully decorated but still gives a warm homey feeling. Since their house is a duplicate of mine I loved seeing how they set up their rooms, the colors they painted and how different their kitchen is from mine. We are both original owners and it being new construction back then we got to choose our kitchen cabinets, flooring, bathroom vanities and floor tiles etc. Most of what we got didn't require paying for upgrades so the builder really gave us a lot for the purchase price. If I could go back in time I would design my kitchen differently. I really like my kitchen but would make a few changes so that it would flow better. Anyway, it was nice seeing the inside of their house and I wish them well. I just hope we get nice new neighbors.

It was interesting to see how she arranged her furniture, the colors she painted her walls and how she decorated. I actually got a few good ideas

When Pretty and I were looking for someplace to move three years ago we took virtual tours of a lot of homes in our area. It was interesting seeing how the places were set up and shocking to see the prices being asked for some of the places.

@Marilynda1225 Three years ago was the first time I'd needed or thought about what other houses looked like inside. We lived in our last house 22 years and would have stayed there forever if not for the owner passing away. We were renting back then. I much prefer to rent a house than own one again. I'd rather let someone else do the upkeep on it.

@DaddyEvil I certainly understand the responsibility of owning a home. I rented a few times when my children were growing up until one day the landlord just decided to sell and I had to scramble to find another place. My parents helped me with a down-payment so I could buy a small house and I've been a homeowner ever since.

I wish more virtual tours were available when I was looking for a house 12 years ago. It certainly would have lessened all the legwork to physically look at houses.

It is nice to be able to see inside, isnt Marilyn? When they were selling this place here where I rent..there are four townhouses here including mine linked together. Anyway, through seeing it online, I could see inside the other 3 here and see how much more they were kept than mine, Mine is the most dilapidated. Of course. As you know..no heating and so on.

I am guilty of a bit of that myself. Curious? Nosy? To me it is kind of the same thing. Besides, my wife and I like looking at houses.

@Marilynda1225 We probably see more houses online than in person for this very reason.

I'll go with curious too. Mostly I was "curious " at their selling price. I hope they get it as that would mean our homes have increased in value

Yes, I hope you get nice new neighbors, too. I thought that was what I'd be getting when the house across the street sold last summer. So far, it's still unoccupied and has a "for lease" sign in the yard from a different company that sold the house.

@Marilynda1225 Oh, it's been sold but obviously to people who thought they'd make a pile of money leasing it out.

I'm surprised that that house is still unsold. I thought homes were selling fast everywhere

I had a wonderful time on my virtual tour. Even though our houses are the same outside hers looks completely different just from some of the options she chose from the builder. One thing she got was a fireplace which I'm sorry I didn't get

I actually did that and snuck a peek at a former home that we owned when it was on the market years later. It is amazing how 1 eye can see it a certain way and another eye another way.

Once in awhile I go back and look at my old house. What's strange for me is my selling pictures are still there and it like going back and revisting myself . The only change is the whopping increase in prices in that area

The house of our neighbors is a duplicate of our home, I liked to visit to see how they furnished and decorated their house. I would also change my kitchen should I buy this house today.

@Marilynda1225 - I noticed that the layout was not the one I would have liked, but it was already installed, almost new and I decided to keep it as it was.

It was hard to design a kitchen when you've never cooked in it. I like the style I chose but would have rearranged things a little differently. Guess we both would have done our kitchens differently if we were buying them today.

I’m always curious about other people’s houses, from the home value to how they decorate. I don’t call it being mosey at all, but more like being an educated and knowledgeable home owner.

I'm hoping they get their price cause that would mean my house has increased in value. Actually I got some good decorating ideas from spying which I just might steal

@Marilynda1225 We have a very hot housing market right now here in Florida. My ex-wife just sold her house, multiple buyers got into a bidding war the day it went up for sale, and she ended up selling it for $40,000 over the asking price. She made herself an incredible profit over what she paid for the house originally

Once upon a time my husband and I bought a cookie-cutter house in a cookie-cutter neighborhood. Same house style inside and out. I loved the house but wished it were unique. I'm glad you could see what the inside of her home looks like and how different your homes are from each other.

We have a mix here of townhouses and semi-attsched homes. Even though the outsides are all similar we had the choice to do the inside from options the builder offered. I still love my house and would move here again if I was looking now. Even those cookie cutter homes are unique in their own way.

@Marilynda1225 They can be. We had a lot of trouble. We learned that before we bought our home, it was a practice home for people who wanted to break into homes. I guess being a rental they didn't see anything they wanted to steal from it, but they got a good idea of how the house was laid out. Our home was broken into many times.

Hope you get nice new neighbours. I love to see the decor of other's house. I have got a lot of ideas from them. Many a times I have asked people to invite me to their house when I know they have done some renovations or moved to a new place.
