Don't worry about tomorrow

I woke up this morning feeling really rotten. Partly from the injections in my head yesterday and partly just getting old.
This afternoon I lay down for a nap and it takes me probably five minutes, lol, to get all comfortable. I get my pillows just right, covers like I want, no wrinkles to irritate me, then after that I lay still for a minute and I thought, "You know what? I feel soooo good! Nothing hurts, nothing's irritating me like wrinkles in my pillow case (Fibromyalgia is a real aggravation)"
It was the most wonderful feeling! There are plenty of things to be concerned about....our friend on a ventilator with Covid, our daughter and her health issues, just all the things we all have to be concerned about. But I thought, "Lord, I'm giving all these worries to you. Right this minute I'm just so thankful that nothing hurts."
I think I fell asleep and woke not hurting at all. I remembered the verse in the Bible in Matthew 6:34 where Jesus said, "Don't worry about tomorrow. Tomorrow will take care of itself. Today has enough trouble of its own."
That's great advice, but often hard to follow. When you think about it, there's no guarantee that we'll still be alive five minutes from now or five years.
I like the idea that we should live like there's no tomorrow, but plan like there is.
What are your thoughts on this?

@1creekgirl "Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him" Jeremiah 17: 7. "Now in peace I shall lie down and sleep;for it is you alone Lord who lets me live in safety" Ps 4: 8. It's great to lie down and let go.

I remind myself of these verses.
"So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom." Psalm 90:12 This one reminds me that my time here on earth is limited and that the most important thing for me to gain is wisdom.
"Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away." James 4:14 I always think the book of James is like the book of Proverbs only in the New Testament. He gives such wisdom to us. And again here like in Psalm he reminds me that my life here is only for a moment.
I am a realist knowing that at 56 my days are truly numbered. In my younger days, I never thought I would live to be the age I am now. But now that I am here I truly understand the importance of numbering my days because they go by quickly.
I am glad you were able to get a nap and that you cast your cares on Him.

I think the older we get, the more we realize how short life truly is. The book of James is one of my favorites. It's so real and tells it like it is!

I'm happy to hear that you laid down and didn't have any pain:) Yes, I do worry about family members and friends. After praying about certain issues, we're to trust the Lord to handle them for us.

Right, we know we're to trust God in all things, but we don't at times.

@1creekgirl I am so ashamed, I trust God for one thing. Then, I doubt his ability for the next

That's pretty much like what my husband and I do. Oh well, it is what it is. Take each day one day at a time, but don't be afraid to plan.

I think it would be foolish to not enjoy every day, but yet not to plan for the future.

@1creekgirl - This is my opinion. When I look at the son of my neighbor (now 22) and I remember that he was 2 months old when we bought this house, I realize how life is short. It seems yesterday that we bought this place.

Thank you so much. They're trying to wean him off the sedative, but haven't heard anything today yet.

@1creekgirl It sounds like he's doing better if they're trying to wean him off the sedative. You're welcome. I'm still praying.

@just4him Our friend passed away last night. I know absolutely he's with Jesus, but we are heartbroken.

Thanks. I wonder how we would live if we truly believed another day is never promised.

@JudyEv I believe we'd all live differently. When we're young, we think we have all the time in the world and most young people do live a long life. But there's no promise of that. Then when we get older, we realize there are only so many years anyone lives on this earth and ours are getting shorter.

I don't know. Life is full of hurt and pain at times, even when we try our best. But I believe that my faith in Jesus as the Son of God gives me the assurance that I will be okay.

That's our son and daughter's boys, Nathan and Landon. They've always been more like brothers than cousins. I think I'm a lot like you...I plan and try not to worry, but it's hard sometimes.

Before l fall asleep at night, l think of Psalm 91 vs 5: " Thou shall not be afraid for the terror by night ; nor for the arrow that flieth by day".
And vs6: "Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness ; nor the destruction that wasteth at noonday".
I fall asleep feeling confident that God is in charge.
