If you look more closely

My sister-in-law and her family from Manila are here for a quick vacation. I find it funny looking at her kids (who I secretly call city kids) watching the lush vegetation we have in the countryside with eyes as round as a saucer, mouths open, drooling a little. Okay, I’m a bit exaggerating. Lol In their defense, my SIL said the city kids don’t see lot of trees in their life. So to impress them a little bit more with nature, we all went to the nearby beach and look what we found! No, they’re not rocks. Not dirt or garbage or whatever.
Can you tell me what are those in the photo above?

Oh, baby leatherback turtles! Very nice!! I hope you stayed long enough for all of them to hatch out and make it to the water. I'm sure birds were feasting on them before you arrived.

@sol_cee Any other animal that finds baby turtles will eat as many as they can before the babies can reach the ocean and swim away.

They're baby leatherback turtles. See the little ridges on their backs? It's easy to identify them from that.

Oh, that would awe me. I don't remember turtles in our parents' hometown.
But no, I'm glad that in our part of city, we still have huge trees. In fact, it's the season of squashed mangoes.

@sol_cee Overripe mangoes that litter the streets falling from very tall trees because no one can reach them.

Are they turtles? Do you always see them in the nearby beach? That's so nice!
Well, I stay in city. If I want to see the sea turtles or the beaches, we have to drive a distance...
Glad that we have a park within walking distance. There is a man-made lake, many types of trees and plants, and some animals too.
I used to hear people saying nowadays many kids, especially those who stay in the city might not have seen real animals or fruits, they only saw those that are cooked/cut and put on the table. I hope my children will not be like that.

Awww, baby turtles! I thought they hatched at night, though. Ours (East Coast United States) hatch at night and they are guided toward the ocean by the reflection of the moonlight on the water, so we have to be careful not to have artificial lights too close to their breeding areas.

I think they are turtles. Heading out to sea. One of many wonderful species of nature. With their flippers, streamlined bodies, and hard-shell nature has provided them with the adaptations to survive.
