Question: "How important are pictures in posts?"

Personally, I am not satisfied if not attaching a photo to each of my posted discussion here. It is just an opinion that it can convey the real idea of the composition. As they said, "A picture is worth a thousand words." Pictures can make all ages know the flow of thoughts by a writer. What is your thought about it? Image Credit: images.saatchiart.com

One of the previous @GoAskAlice once said there was a higher possibility of getting responses on a discussion with a picture on it. I don't know if that's true or not. I've always attached a picture because of that comment, though.

I think it is a myth. No offense to people concerned.

It depends, if the picture illustrates the post it is important, to add a picture that has nothing to do with the post makes no sense in my opinion.

@DaddyEvil - I can attach a nice photo that is not personal if it has something to do with the discussion. I do not think I ever posted without adding a photo.

@LadyDuck I attach things like my back yard if I don't have a picture pertinent to the discussion. I love looking at the trees and grass in my back yard.

Once in a while I'll attach a nice photo that has nothing to do with the discussion, just because. *shrug*

It's a nice addition to the post, but not always necessary. Most of the time I don't attach a photo .

I think a lot of people watch for your name to... finally... appear somewhere on myLot, just to be able to visit with you...

I sometimes attach a photo but it is such a hassle here that I don't often. They are always too big or too small or whatever. I use photos to let others know what I am talking about, ie, here is my cat, what is this mess on my laptop?, etc.

@akalinus I agree with the resizing of the photos. If I am using my laptop or desktop, it is fine to deal with photos to be edited than using my mobile phone.

I always have to reduce the size of my photos. The camera on my phone is a good one and makes nice photos. (I just use "Paint" on my laptop to reduce the photo size.)

sometimes pictures can mean a language that can't be used with just words.

I often include pictures as a way of saying, 'See what I'm talking about?' (using either a diagram or a picture of the person/incident I'm discussing)---possibly based on the way I- and many other readers-learned to read ...

I don't necessarily attach a picture with a post. Many times I have posted a post without a picture and have got lots of responses on them. I don't think it's true. You need to have an interesting topic and the content to attract people's attention here.

I prefer to put pictures on my posts as well but my pictures aren't always about the content of a post.

I agree that it is not necessary. In my book, I felt content with a photo that goes along with the composition.

I haven't attached pictures to my posts mostly because Im not sure how to. I usually go by the title rather than a picture but I do think pictures add something to the post

You have a point. Most of us are adults here and we can understand the compositions' main ideas. For some young learners, having images can bring life to their imaginations.

Well it depends. Sometimes trying to get a photo to upload on here is soul destroying and time consuming But when it goes ok a picture does help generate readers and comments
