No Mixups for Mother’s Day

Last Christmas we had a bit of a mixup. Both sons invited me for Christmas Dinner. We worked it out but this year they got together before making any plans.
We’ll be having Mother’s Day dinner at the older brothers house. I always like to take food for our dinners but I’m being told that we’re having a very simple dinner . No pies or cakes, no deviled eggs, nothing is needed.
My sister tells me she’d be happy if her kids invited her to dinner and told her not to bring food. She’s always the one who cooks and does the inviting in her family. She also said she’s not hosting a Mother’s Day dinner this year. She’s planning on going out with her husband and having a fun day.
It makes me appreciate my kids even more.

I'm glad they worked everything out, and they are taking care of the food for you.

It could be because she always has don that so they think thats how she wants it. Glad the boys worked it out ahead of time this year

@RubyHawk My mom always did it and wanted too. I tried to get her to go out a couple of times. She always wanted all of the family there

@wolfgirl569 I liked doing it myself but the kids are happier doing it themselves. They enjoy doing it for me.

That is nice. I remember when I invited my grandmother to my place for Christmas dinner. She had fixed it for so many years. It felt nice to do it for her for a change.

@RubyHawk .........Nice to let others take it over. Gets old doing it every year. And a lot of work.

It really does feel good to let someone else do it for a change. After we moved into an apartment my sons decided our apartment was too small for all the family. We continued to have dinners here for a few years then let My oldest son and his wife carry on.

Indeed, it's your day, so you're a Queen for a day, and luckily, you children believe so too. I too, liked doting in my Mom for Mother's Day, back in my the day.

Aw, good for you. I hope you had a wonderful time. And good for your suster. Her kids should be cooking for her, or at least taking her out to eat.

I am glad you have a good Mother's Day with your family. I always enjoyed cooking on holidays but since I never had a big family it was always me my mom and friends and later in Latvia with me and my husband and occasionally some of his family joined us

Enjoy your Mothers Day tomorrow Ruby. It's extra special that you'll be spending it at your sons and you don't have to do any cooking or bring anything for dinner. Sounds like you get a day off and just enjoy being the mom
