Ooh, what a jaunt!!!! More on that later. Meanwhile, you want music this early in the day, and music you shall have. Here’s another song from sixty years ago that still is fondly remembered….even by people who weren’t born then! Sealed With a Kiss - Brian Hyland Brian Hyland (still with us as of this post, age 78) had a pretty diversified career. He had “bubblegum” songs (like this one), novelty-like songs (“Itsy Witsy Teeny Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini”), and he had pretty serious songs (“Gypsy Woman”). His career was pretty spread out, thanks to those guys from Liverpool. This might be on the “light” side, but that was still an innocent era of rock and roll. Sweet teen love songs like this still resonate because of that innocence. Sealed With a Kiss Written by Peter Udell and Gary Geld Recorded by Brian Hyland From Sealed With a Kiss, 1962 Let us make a pledge:

Funny story (as in, I’ll laugh one day, just not now): I planned to come home before the weekend because I had a dental appointment scheduled Tuesday. Well, they called me and canceled it. I could still be in Gatlinburg!!!!

@CarolDM — everything happens for a reason. The hotel I was staying at would have been more for one day this weekend than I paid for TWO days during the week. One of the reasons I like traveling during the week and being home on the weekends.

@JudyEv — here in the States there were local phone numbers we could call for the time and weather! That hasn’t changed, pick your smartphone up and it tells you that without having to dial.

“Gypsy Woman” is so much different than this, but it shows Hyland’s diversity.

I loved that song. And I hadn´t remembered for a long time. You also made me remember the Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weenie song that we all learned to sing

@FourWalls There are some songs to dance with or to listen. And other to learn and sing. This was one of them. Another one of that time was Witch doctor

I have always loved this song. It is filled with a sense of hope and yet, pending disappointment as the expected reunion isn't a sure thing.

I know what you mean about the disappointment. It’s almost as if the narrator is saying “Let’s not grow up over the summer”!

@DWDavis — of course! It wouldn’t be much of a story if they didn’t change. And, in reality, those things happen more than the “meet in September” sweet reunions of the song.

@FourWalls In a story I am currently working on, the MC and his girlfriend wind up apart most of the summer due to attending camps and family trips. At the start of the summer, both promise nothing will change about how they feel towards each other. Alas, tis not to be.

Dammit I was expecting this little band called Kiss. Some how I get the feeling there is more to come. There was an innocent era, some say it is still here, we just have to find it. Damn, I hate when they make us work and then buy their albums. haha.

Cute song, I was 12 when this came out. I didn't really listen to music of my own choosing back then but I remember hearing it on the oldies channel when I was about 18 or so. It sounds like a song that should've been sung by a woman not a guy, not a lotta guys I know wooda thought like that.

The three major hit versions were by male singers or groups, but it easily could be more of a female perspective.
