Sunny Sunday

These ones are probably at its peak. There was another stalk that was taller and had reddish-orange petals . . . but it's long done now as it peaked rather early. Thank you . . . I hope you enjoyed your sunny weekend!!

@CarolDM Little birds (I think they are some kind of finch) like to hang out on the stems . . . like a cat tree, but it's a bird tree .

@much2say My neighbor's is looking really pretty. A nice weekend watching the birds.

Like I said before, don't get too jealous . It's kind of a mess down below it . . . with those poppies which some are really out of control. That ugly dirty wall is my neighbor's garage wall (the sides of our yards are like that - that's how the house/yards are set up here). Ah, you're on the hot side too. It was supposed to be cooling down, but it sure doesn't feel much cooler outside. I think this summer is going to be a super hot one - maybe not now but in coming months. I tend to rattle on . . . and I have deleted a lot of my posts. But if you find one, let me know - I just don't remember what all I've written .

@rebelann OH wow - 100 already! Today is actually cooler but who knows for how long. This up and down thing is not sitting well with the plants. Wow, so you got back to the humble beginnings of myLot?

Yep, we usually get the hottest days in June. Yesterday we hit 100f but the humidity was only about 6% which is great as I have a swamp cooler. I use key words and hunt down old stuff and sometimes it'll take me all the way back to 2006.

And now Happy Monday ! Oh what we would do for that rain! The sunflowers, I guess, like these hot, dry conditions . . . they pretty much do ok on their own too. How nice your daughter got them for her birthday . . . the ones in the floral shops are super big and spectacular !!

@much2say th sunflowers my daughter got in her bouquet opened up nicely. They aren't too big but they are definitely really pretty. I also get to enjoy them as they're on the dining room table.

@Marilynda1225 They look bright and "alert" - as if they had some great coffee . They do brighten up the table/room. I haven't cut any yet . . . I often feel guilty for doing that .

It's hot, but not as hot as it can be . . . we need to brace ourselves for the next few months (well actually you guys are cooler than us down here ).

You are a total beach person . . . take FULL advantage of the wonderful beach weather !

Is this a separate facility (that's what I think of when you say "self storage" . . . that's what they call those places where you rent space/garages to hold your things). I hope you didn't have to too much to go through and were able to enjoy the rest of your weekend.

@LadyDuck Ah, I guess since you had to go there, might as well get some "work" done at the same time. Our self storage is our house/garage .

@much2say - Yes it is a separate facility, we have a large room inside an office building where we store our old business documents, old computers, other stuff. We moved what was necessary so that they can access the radiators that they have to inspect.

Hail? Rain? Flood warnings? How in the world does it get so wet over there and it's completely bone dry here . Can't we trade if even for a few days??? Take some of our sun . . . here, take it . . . TAKE IT!!!

@DaddyEvil You get all the rain!! Wait, there is no local weather station at all? Conditions 45 miles away could make a significant difference (elevation, like you said).

@much2say It stormed from around 7 pm last night until 6:30 am today and looks like it could still keep raining today. It makes me mad that our "local" weather station is 45 miles away, so what is predicted usually isn't what we're getting. (Not only the distance, but also the elevation is different. Aurora is higher than Springfield, Mo.) Screenshot is mine.

Thank you! More flowers opened up since this post - so it got a bit fuller ! Oh wow, A/C weather already out there! Right - you guys get the high humidity. We had some hot/warm days, but apparently we will be cooling off for the next few days through Memorial Day weekend . . . in the high 70s. But I know the super hot days will be coming soon enough .

@moffittjc Kinda strange . . . it got cooler than I thought - not that I'm complaining - but I'm just used to somewhat hot Memorial Days. Wow - you got a storm - oh we would love to have your rain (no such luck for us). Wishing you a great weekend at Disney!

@much2say We’re getting lucky this year and having a cool down for Memorial Day weekend as well. It’s storming now as a cold front pushes through. Should be a nice weekend once the rain clears out.

I think there may be wild sunflowers around . . . but in our yard there are many chances for seeds to plant themselves anywhere. We have bird seeds, squirrels take and hide them, lots of wind. We had planted sunflowers in previous seasons, these could very well be from that (even though we never got to enjoy the seeds ourselves). I wish we had comfortable temps all year 'round - it'd make life easier .

@MarshaMusselman That is true. I tend to like it on the hot side, but others definitely do not. I wonder if we could all agree on one particular temp .

@much2say I doubt many places have comfortable temps all around. Plus some is us like it got and some like it cooler.

I actually love cloudy . . . that somehow makes me more motivated .

Thank you! We would seriously love to have that rain - it is too dry here. Say, do you have a Mitsuwa there? They are FINALLY going to open up a Japanese grocery here - Mitsuwa. It's no Marukai, but at least we will have a J market (it's going to be a very small market).

@oahuwriter The other J market chain is Nijiya . . . but we don't have that locally. Is Don Quiote a J store? Ha ha . . . well let me know what you think of that Mitsuwa. But I do think Maruakai beats out everyone else.

@much2say No, we've got Daiso, Don Quiote & Marukai, so far. No news about, Mitsuwa, first I've heard of this market. After research, there's a Mitsuwa on Kalakaua Ave. Glad you asked, now I've another shop to check out!

A lazy day is good - no matter what day . Oh thank you - this was one of 6 that surprised us (but this is one of 2 that turned out to be quite tall and full). It truly is a gift from Nature . . . and I really don't have to take care of it much . . . I guess Nature knows what she's doing more than we do .

@arunima25 And Nature seems to have done it for free (well, at least Nature has not sent me the bill yet ).

I think it depends on the variety . . . but yah, I didn't know either . A house down the street has stalks with just one flower at the very top. Enjoy your cool weather . . . we're in the 80s.

It really is. It is another plant that does not need much care (but it needs more water than the poppies). I'm glad the weather is on your side . . . being comfortable is welcomed .

@much2say Sunflowers have broad leaves which means the water in them evaporates quicker than the poppies.

And now we're onto Saturday . Gosh time goes by so fast .

Ah, so you did go cycling after all ! We just got new bikes - but we only rode one day this weekend.
