Do You LIke Coconut?

Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday! It's a beautiful sunny day here today and thankfully we didn't get those horrendous storms predicted yesterday. We did get some rain but that we needed. All the other stuff (thunder, lightening, hail and tornado threats by passed us). I just finished my breakfast of a Belvita Coconut flavored biscuit and a Dannon Light Coconut flavored greek yogurt. It was really good especially since I dunked my biscuit in my coffee. I realized that I'm prone to picking coconut flavored things (even though I like lots of other flavors) I also like Mounds candy bars (which is chocolate covered coconut) I love coconut cake and coconut cream pie One thing I never eat is fresh coconut. Probably because I've just never thought about it. Aside from chocolate, do you like coconut and if not what's your go to flavor?

I love eating coconut fresh. It's delicious if you mix with with milk in a cold drink. Of course, you sweeten it with sugar to taste.

I love the flavor of coconut in many things, yet I can't eat them. I'm allergic to coconut, darn it:( So I resort to caramel flavoring or even butterscotch, at times. Chocolate isn't one of my favorites.

Sorry your allergic to coconut but I have to agree that both caramel or butterscotch are two of my favorites too

@Marilynda1225 If I had a choice between the two, I'd select the caramel flavoring:)

Yes, and Yes! I am a big coconut fan. I will usually pick that flavor option when it is offered. It depends on the cake, also but I will usually pick a coconut cake over chocolate or other flavor offerings. There is just something about it.

Glad you only got rain and no storms. I have never been a coconut fan. But I do enjoy coconut cream pie.

I do not think I have a "go to" flavor. I do like coconut, and chocolate, and mixed berries and cherries and all sorts of flavors of things.

I also like berry flavors in addition to coconut. Guess I'm more like you and like more flavors than I thought I did

Yes, I like coconut. I even bought tools to open coconut so that I wouldn't waste its fresh after drinking coconut juice. The tools are quite useful and now I seem to be very professional

Coconuts do look like they are hard to open. They do seem like an interesting fruit to open and enjoy. Maybe one day I'll be able to try one

Ah, glad the sun made it out your way! I do like coconut! I like shredded or toasted coconut on certain baked goods. I like using coconut oil and coconut milk/cream to cook with. I see fresh coconut in stores but have no idea how to pick one or cut it (my friend showed me but she had a gigantic knife to do it!).

@Marilynda1225 I remember as a kid I didn't care for coconut, but in a home ec class, we made a bunny cake . . . the recipe called for shredded coconut over the icing and I loved it from then on. Say, do you notice a positive difference in your skin after a day or so after eating coconut?

Occasionally I do enjoy a bit of coconut. I have a delicious recipe for brownies with a centre with coconut in them among other ingredients. I haven't made those in decades. My hubby cannot have coconut, so I do not bake with it nor buy it. Besides chocolate my go to flavour is either almond or cinammon.

@Marilynda1225 They were very rich brownies, eating them every couple of years was enough extra calories. The center was a mixture of condensed milk with coconut mixed in it.

Brownies with a center of coconut....I'm already drooling just thinking about it. I also like almond flavored things and cinnamon isn't something I woudn't eat but not first on my list

I have to say that I agree about the bits getting stuck in the teeth. It is annoying but I deal with it to enjoy occasionally.

I will eat a Mounds or an Almond Joy; but I don't think I would care for coconut flavored water or coffee. I've never been a big fan of coconut cream pie. I like cranberry juice for one.

Yes, I like coconut. I eat the flesh and of course drink the fresh coconut juice. It goes to say too I like any coconut flavored food. I like coco jams too though sometimes they can be too sweet for my liking.

@Marilynda1225 Flesh has a firm bite. Juice is tropical and refreshing. Coconuts generally just have a mild taste. A little nutty, a little sweet.

Yes, I love coconut especially the fresh coconut juice and coconut meat fresh from the coconut. I miss this food and I miss harvesting my own coconuts. I am not fond of canned coconut but I do use canned coconut milk for my desserts and for making coconut oil. I love coconut cookies and anything with coconut.
