Another night terror or?

I had another episode of what was either a night terror or a nightmare that made me jump out of bed. I don't remember what the nightmare was, but I jumped up and ran towards the dining room. I was frightened, but gradually realized I was in my own house. I went back to bed and was okay the rest of the night. I wish I knew what causes them. So far I don't get hurt or try to leave the house, but what if I do? I don't see well in the dark, so it's the grace of God I haven't fallen. We're at the end of the quarantine for Dale's Covid, but I really don't feel well today. Please pray that I don't have Covid. Thank you so much.

I've heard of this happening in children (my own daughter went through that), but I wasn't aware that it happened in adults too. I hope you don't have them on a frequent basis, and I really hope you don't get hurt after any future episodes. And I definitely pray that you don't have Covid!

Thank you so much. Dale has now had Covid twice, so far I'm good. I told him how you've had it three times. Are you doing okay for now? It seems to be unusual for adults to have night terrors (if that's what I'm really having), but I've always been a late bloomer, lol.

@1creekgirl Well, just got several phone calls today. Everyone I went to Disney with for my birthday has tested positive for Covid. So we’ll see how I hold up surrounded by four sick people.

I will, and I would guess they are medication related. Does anything you are taking have that as a potential side effect? The stress with hubby having Covid surely doesn't help I am sure.

@1creekgirl Some do have them as potential side effects Benadryl or any kind of dipehndrymine can cause them in older people. as can Ambien.

If the episodes are caused by stress, I can sure understand why I have them! I don't know of any meds that cause them.

@snowy22315 Thanks for the info. I do take Benadryl and Ambian once in a while. I'll pay attention to what I took that night if I have another one.

Praying that you don't have COVID-19. Have you talked to your PCP or a psychiatrist about the dreams?

@CarolDM I could certainly attribute this to stress.

I am glad that you made your way back to bed unharmed. Have you considered getting therapy to try to tap into what is triggering these events? It may be well worth it as you could really get hurt.

I think maybe I should. Night terrors are rather unusual in adults (I've always been a late bloomer, lol.) But I seem to have a few differences from all I've read.

I am glad that you can made it back to your bed unharmed. I wonder often which is the cause of nightmares. Some are so vivid that we feel it's the reality. Take care Vicky, I hope you did not get Covid.

Sending prayers that you'll avoid covid. I didn't feel very well yesterday, in fact neither of us did, but we seem to be okay today.

I will be praying that you do not get COVID. Your nightmare could be caused by something that you saw or a show that featured the event in your nightmare.
