My kids are in grade 9 and they have to make a science project as homework. I know they won't be able to make it but I will have to make it. I have been searching on YouTube for it. They have been given the choice among the below options : Industrial development Health, nutrition, and cleanliness Disaster management Resource management Future transport and communication Agriculture and food security. I am confused about which project should I take but still I feel it will be easy to make it on Disaster management. Anyone has an idea what should I make. Your ideas and suggestions are welcome. I will upload the picture of the same once we complete it.

Why should you choose one of those projects as your kids are those supposed to do the project? I would surely choose Health, nutrition, and cleanliness OR Agriculture and food security.

Here the kids are not much creative. In schools, they are not made focused on creativity but are asked to cram things. So I don't think they would be able to choose any of the topics by themselves.

I'm with you as you can see in my comment above. I also suggested Health etc. And I'm very much with you when it comes to the involvement of parents in a school project.

@MALUSE His children are no more so young to need the opinion of their father to decide which project to pick up. I think they should decide themselves according what they feel they want to discuss.

How old are Indian children in grade 9? (All school systems are different). If you know that they won't be able to make it, you should talk to the teacher and ask if he thinks that children are able to complete the task without the help of adults. I was a teacher myself. I taught foreign languages. I could see at once if a pupil had written a text themselves or if a grown-up had written it. Once, I told a pupil that I doubted that he had written the text himself. It was on a high level and without mistakes. He swore that he had done it. I said that if that was indeed the case, he would certainly be able to write it again. I would sit with him in an empty classroom in the afternoon and I would allow him to use a dictonary. He made an obscene remark and that was it. I gave him the worst mark which was also responsible - together with other bad marks in other subjects - that he failed at the end of the term and had to repeat it. I find 'Disaster management' much too abstract for a pupil. I'd choose 'Health, nutrition, and cleanliness'. This is something also a young person can have an opinion on. They can include the experience they've already made in this field at home and don't have to copy everything from books.

I have suggested they make a project craft or make it on a chart. I understand if a student doesn't make it on his. or her own then he/she doesn't learn anything. It's good that a teacher gives them a topic which they can easily make.

@m_audrey6788 YouTube helps a lot these days. We didn't have such a facility in our childhood days.

Is there any area in which the kids have special interest? Like my kids are very excited about animals. So say if your kids have a keen interest in Transport or say Trains etc, you can go for Future Transport and Communication If they are kern into arranging and organizing things or things like Water Conservation, go for Resource Management. By the way, does the school wants a working model of the things?

@sjvg1976 If working model is a criteria, then choose one in which the working model is a bit easier to make.

Yes they want a working model. Kids don't have any special interests.

I hope the bread mold project is accepted by their teacher. It is by far the easiest project to be done like this. Good luck with your grade.

Yes, that's the easiest model but I doubt if the teacher will accept it as they don't expect such an easy project from the 9th standard student.

@sjvg1976 Well, that sucks then. You'll actually have to do some work for their project.

Seriously if you see disaster management is very important in India so you can take that project. Being a former science teacher let me give you a idea how to go about it. It's rainy season. Indian cities suffer from water logging. So the first step is rain harvesting. You can take pictures of tanks erected either on roof tops or agricultural lands that can be used for both ground level and roof top farming. Secondly the rain water overflows the drainage system in India. Pictures of overflowing drains and then a drawing of how they can be taken to a common downward tank or river and then treated. These drainage water can also be cleaned through fishes that survive in flowing drains. Hope it helps you.

You can ask them to do it themselves so that they can learn more through research. When I was in high school 3rd year, now grade 9 (based on the new education system here), we were asked to do a Science Project. We were 4 in a group. Each contributed on research and presentation. We worked on making dried saluyot leaves (jute leaves). It was a simple project on nutrition and health. We presented that dried leaves can be added on food recipe like noodle soup. We presented the health benefits of the leaves.

I think the children should understand that it is their work, not yours. How are they going to learn if you do it for them?

It's best if it's something the child can do themselves. They will learn very little if you do it for them but there are some good suggestions in the comments.

I agree with it. Children will learn more when they do something of their own.

Health, nutrition and cleanliness is I think the best topic for them. I am wondering why you are going to make their homework as it is their task to do so and be creative.

I hope you enjoy doing the project I would chose the second, third, or last for kids who have no interest. As a parent, we let our kids choose and offered suggestions if they asked. It’s best to let them complete the project themselves in their own way.

Disaster management is feasible for a kid's project. And there are many ways to prepare in case disaster may come whether natural or man-made.
