Dump The Pump

Today June 17 in the United States, it is National Dump the Pump Day , a day in which people are encouraged to leave their cars at home and take public transportation.
With the price of gas so high, this effort could no doubt help commuters to save some money , and also limit wear and tear on their vehicles.
One can also benefit from getting some good exercise if one decides to ride a bicycle to work , or even walk or jog if the workplace is not too far away.
What do you think? Are you up to dumping the pump today?
By the way, today June 17 is my son's birthday.
Happy birthday Dean

No public transportation here and it is 88F (31C) now (11:20 am) heading for a high of 95F (35C) for the day. There is a heat advisory in effect here of 105F (40.5C) until 8 pm.
You won't find anyone walking/biking if they have any brains in their head today.

@Kandae11 No buses or taxis. Either people own cars or they get family or friends to drive them around.

@DaddyEvil Wow! If that was the case here only half of the working population would be able to get to work. We have government buses, private buses, taxis, including Uber, and they have reactivated the train system in one area.

This idea of using public transportation is also ecologically more viable. The hard part is in places where traffic is chaotic and public transportation is a big problem. In Brazil we have problems in traffic and in the quality of transportation. It is not difficult to see overcrowded subways and buses. I really like environmentally friendly transportation, such as bicycles. In Brazil we still have few bicycle paths. I expect this rate to increase a lot in the coming years.

Every day there is at least 6 or 7 National or International days for something. National dump the pump day was started by the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) in June 2006.Thank you for the birthday wishes. Ishall relay them to him.
