My oldest son's washer broke down and he is having a hard time finding someone to go to his house and fix it. Very hard to get someone handy these days. The store where he bought it has been no help. So, he has to come to our place to do some laundry as they have 3 girls+2 adults which makes for a lot of laundry. I am happy to help with that.

No one wants to fix appliances anymore, it is a shame. Then they ask us not to waste... ridiculous.

@marlina I agree, I fixed myself our lawn mower. It was only the rubber button to pump the gasoline, but no one wanted to fix it. I ordered the button in China and got 4 for $ 2. Ridiculous!

Its probably due to the shortage of parts that he cannot get someone to come out. I wouldn't mind doing someone else's wash, the machine does the bulk of the work.

Yes, the machine does the work but we still have to be organized that we do not waste time.

@marlina Yes we do especially with the big job that you had today. It’s not like doing laundry for a couple.

@Juliaacv , I don't think I ever seen so many "little pants and tops"etc. Plus a ton of thick huge towels.

That must be so frustrating not to be able to get someone to fix the washer especially with his large family. It's good you can help out and get in a visit too (unless he just drops it off for you to do )

When our appliances stopped working, it was cheaper to buy a new one. Sears would send out a repairman, for a hideous amount of cash! No thanks.

@marlina Sears would only pay their own staff members, to fix a Sears appliance. It was far too expensive!

I have some laundry to do today, too. I'd let them use my machine, but I'm a bit too far away.

My daughter doesn't have a washer and dryer where she lives so she comes to our house every other week. She goes to her sister's the other week. I'm also happy to help and then I get to see her a little.

If you are staying close by he can come and do the washing in your washing machine. Here in India they often come the same day if something goes wrong with the washing machine.

We had a leak in ours. Maintenance gave us a new washer on loan for a couple of days until they got an old model to put in here. Nice having a new one for a while. All computerized.

That is the one thing about modern appliances, there total lack of easy repair. Still, you don't make a profit by turning out goods with a long life
