I have not made any plans to be away from the house. Hubby was to have an appointment with the infectious disease clinic. The person he was to see had a family emergency. It was cancelled. We went to one appointment there. As far as I am concerned it is a waste of time. They look at his picc line, ask if he runs a fever or has a rash. I do not like going there because it takes an hour or more to get there maybe 30 minutes total counting check in and check out and more than an hour to get home. Not to mention the cost of gas. It is full of "sick" people. People who have infections. It seems to me it is a good place to avoid. Hubby gets his antibiotic infusions and has labs drawn in Marion. Twelve miles from home. He is usually alone, does not have a lengthy check in and check out. They monitor his vitals, clean his port and are great. Always less than an hour total. We are fine with "shopping local". Anyway, I planned not to go to my sister's house today. I can just do "stuff" at home. First thing may be a nap. A thunderstorm moved through in the night. It is cloudy. The thunder shook the house and woke me up. That is why I want a nap.

I spelled it wrong. PICC line. Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter. It is a line inserted under his arm into a vein to go directly into his blood stream so that the antibiotics get to his infection faster and less diluted.

I remember going to the doctor for a check-up after some issue and I had to wait for about 45 minutes in a crowded waiting room to see the doctor. When I left I was sick.

Our wait was not long, but it still makes me wonder what we are getting exposed to. We do wear masks.

The day is cool, nice air, not very hot. I am so exhausted by the past hot days that I am almost falling asleep.

All three of the weather services I look at show storms and rain are in our future. We've been hearing thunder since Monday night with thick clouds but no rain. This morning we heard thunder again and I opened the doors and windows to let the 72F blow through the house. (The windows are closed now but the doors are still open. We're still at 72F. When it gets more than 78F, Pretty will close the house back up.) Pretty says that if the temp is still nice around 11 am, she's going to wake me up to help her move some of the mint plants into the back yard and plant them around one of the trees back there. We're also going to take some of the bulbs from our taro plants and put them into the ground along the front of our front porch. They should look good there. I would avoid the infectious disease clinic, too. I got my next Xolair shot yesterday. The allergist also prescribed a different type of allergy pill for me along with a new type of nasal spray. (My eyes are swelling up this morning so I'm not sure how long I'll be online today. *shrug* I'm looking through my eyelashes now...) I hope you both have a beautiful day today.

Okay, Taro is the elephant ear plant, right? Do they winter out where you are? My sister had a Filippina neighbor who said that was a common food for them.

@GardenGerty Yes, taro is elephant ear. And they overwinter well here. Yeah, they eat them. I tried a couple of the recipes I found online but we didn't like them. The bulbs are supposed to taste kind of like potatoes... but they don't. (They taste like dried green leaves. YUCKY!) At one time I had grown a whole forest of them in case we did like them and then started giving them away to friends. I still have four pots of them in the house and one large stem we're going to cut up and plant in the yard.

I'm sorry that it's such a hassle to go to the infectious disease clinic. I like doctor's appointments that are close to home.

That would be our preference, but this is a specialist clinic. So we will go one more time.

I'm glad that you have a place that you actually like to get the necessary health things done. It seems hard to find one place that is worth going to lately. I know it's hard though in general. I do housework all week, I never go anywhere until Friday lol then our weekends seem crazy. I hope you get your nap and some rest, storms can suck.

I like the usually cooler weather after the storms. There are some other things that disturb me as well.

@GardenGerty I don't like the thunder. It always wakes me up and I can't sleep

I hope you had your nap. I remember when I was a university student and lived at a house near the university. The area is located in the highest part of the city and every time there was a thunderstorm, it was just way too loud as if the thunder was just right above my head. I had never experienced that in my hometown.

That is how it feels here sometimes. Mainly because the area is so open.

I have that problem occasionally, getting calls sometimes an hour or two before the appointment that it’s canceled. Have a great nap! I’ve seen “white noise” videos that have thunder sounds in them, but thunder wakes me up, not puts me to sleep.

I have somewhere a set of CD's with nature sounds. One is thunderstorms. One is birds in a rainforest. . . that makes me wake up. When I worked at a preschool we would play it at lunch though and the kids seemed to get mellow. One other CD is a running brook--always made me have to go pee. I like the one of ocean waves best because I tended to breathe in and out in a synchronized manner with the waves and it put me to sleep.
