Identical Twins - Any In Your Family?

My mother's twin brother died in childbirth, so unfortunately that was one Uncle l never met, but l do have seven others.
Knowing that l have twins in my family l was hoping l would have twins, but that was not to be. And l am very thankful for what l have got.
Nonetheless, l still admire and am fascinated by identical twins.
I wonder: Do identical twins have different personalities? How do you tell which one is Peter or Paul? Can one twin be brighter than the other?
What do you think?
Do you know anyone who has twins? Would you have liked to have twins? Are you a twin?

I’m actually a twin. Younger. My sister is 1 hour and 5mins older than me. She was born naturally while they had to rush my mother in for a C-section for me because I turned as soon as my sister was out lol, hence the one hour difference. We are not identical. We don’t even lookalike and we have completely different personalities, but we are connected. I often feel her feelings and she mine. Same with pain. It’s weird but we’ve embraced it.

I don't see it with my kids, even with my niece and nephew as they are also twin kids. @Greencindere

@sjvg1976 it started happening for us when we first got separated when we were 16 years old. I went to live in the US and she didn’t want so she stayed in Serbia. That first year we started noticing the connection. And it has continued ever since.

It's better that you don't have twins, it's not easy to look after them if you don't have an assistant. @Marilynda1225

There are some on my mothers side of the family, and my cousin is married to an identical triplet. It could be when their childen start having children, they could be multiples. From what I understand it skips a generation,

@Kandae11 I bet it was rough. I remember at their wedding, I saw one of the triplets standing by a door, and at first of course, I thought it was the bride. I guess the lack of a wedding dress should have been a tip off...lol.

To me identical twins are very cute and the only true twins.
No twins in our families anywhere.

@Kouponkaren. Thank you for that reminder. A male and female would definitely not be identical. So you have twin daughters. I would have been happy for any gender twins but my preference would have been twin girls - like the two shown in this picture.

I know an identical twins who were my high school classmates. They looked very much alike. Since I was not their close friends, I didn't really know if their personalities were similar too.

My niece has two girls but they are not identical. They are identical when it comes to their studies - they both get ranks.

No, there are no twins in my family. I am glad I didn't have twins, one baby at a time was enough for me. No, I am not a twin.

@Kandae11 I will never forget when my son was in highschool, he was in the Class of 2014. In the class right behind him Class of 2015, there were identical triplet sisters. I saw them on campus and when I saw their Yearbook pictures, I could not tell them apart.

I always thought that twins were so rare until our son met his wife.
They run in her family.
They have fraternal twins, but they went thru a stage where they looked so much alike.
And still, if one were not a bit longer then the other I would have a hard time telling them apart.
They communicate with each other, even as babies in the coolest way.
One babbles the other reaches out to hold her hand and to kick her leg.
I can just imagine how that will not be appreciated in a few more years.

No, I'm not a twin and twins do not run in my family. My ex's family, his maternal grandmother was a twin. They weren't identical twins/ they were fraternal twins.

my school mate in primary school had twin brothers and until high school, they wore the same clothes so it was hard to distinguish them apart though, i thought that one was a little bit chubbier than other. i think they have different personalities but not that different, not sure. sorry for your uncle. in my extended family, from my father side, there are twins too and they differ too.

Twin according to scientists isn't actually identical. Only some of their physical attributes.

I have seen identical twins when I was a teacher. One of them was brighter than the other. I didn't want to have twins because it's very difficult to manage and bring them up.

@Kandae11 Yes, to bring up twins you need help. I needed the help of my parents and younger sister to bring up my sons when they were babies as they had only 1year and 7months difference between them and gave me a tough time.

No, not a twin. No twins in my family. I know one twin sister, pair. Yes, you can tell them apart. They had very different personalities. One twin became my friend, but her twin sister and I, were just acquainted. You know, I wouldn't mind being a part of a twin.

I am not a twin but my mother was. She had a fraternal twin brother. I have cousins who are identical twins, but identical twins don't run in families. It's the fraternal ones that do. And it skips a generation, and the older a woman is and the more pregnancies she has had, the more likely she is to have twins. My grandmother had twins...my mom and her brother. My mom and brother did NOT have twins...but guess what: I did! I had twin girls who are fraternal and look and act NOTHING alike. One has brown hair and green eyes. The other has red hair and brown eyes. I always wanted twins but never thought I would be blessed with them. I was 34 when I had them, and they were my 3rd pregnancy! :0)

Yes, and totally different personalities. They have both moved away from CT where they grew up and love about 400 miles away from each other. Although they do keep in touch, they aren't really all that close. I think they are too different.
