BLT: Bacon or baloney?

Yeah, yeah, I know some of you may think baloney is right up there with Spam, culinarily speaking.
With the delicious crop of red tomatoes from our garden, we've been enjoying a bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwich most every night for a snack.
But sometimes for a change, it's a fried baloney (bologna), lettuce, and tomato sandwich.
Either way, those fresh tomatoes could make anything yummy. Even Spam
Do you like BLT's? Do you ever substitute something else for the bacon?

That's how I feel. Bacon more often than baloney.

@sallypup Oooh, I bet that is good. I don't even know where to find a butcher.

@1creekgirl Bacon bought from a local butcher is the very best.

@RebeccasFarm They've been pretty good this year, certainly better than the ones in the grocery stores.

@1creekgirl Its due to my enlarged liver.
And as of the last year because of my gall stones.

@Juliaacv Oh, that's right, I remember now you writing about that. Do you have an appointment yet for the gallbladder surgery? I hope they don't wait until it's an emergency surgery.

Are you limited on bacon because of cholesterol?

Are you serious? Is this even a question? I mean, I am not going to hold anything against bologna, but come on. A BLT is not anything but bacon in my book. I'd call the other option just a bologna sandwich and leave it at that.
As for Spam, the only place that stuff belongs is in a garbage can. lol

I’m allergic to pork, so TLT (tomato, lettuce, and more tomato) works fine for me.

You have my deepest sympathy. I can't imagine life without bacon or country ham or pork ribs or sausage or pigs feet. Just kidding with last one.

@1creekgirl — look at the bright side: more bacon for you!!!! If JJ doesn’t beat you to it, that is.

I do love BLTs especially with garden tomatoes. I don't substitute anything for bacon but I'm also happy with a tomato, lettuce and mayo sandwich . I do also like a baloney sandwich (with mayo) but not fried. My mom liked baloney fried but not on a sandwich Guess we all have our likes and dislikes

I do like BLTs and I've made it with balogna before but mostly when I was growing up. I think I tried it once in the last ten years and couldn't get the slice of balogna to get up very well.

To me they're good whether the baloney is fried or not.
