Company and a Busy Weekend

Happy Monday Everyone! it's sunny and hot here in my little corner of the myLot world. Just another day of heat advisories (ugh) I haven't been here for the last few days. Seems as if weekends arrive and I don't spend much time online. It's been a nice break and something I might continue doing. Saturday my son, daughter in law and two grandsons came for a quick visit. Well, they said it was going to be quick but they wound up staying for hours, we did a late day lunch with burgers on the barbecue and my oldest daughter came over to say hello. It turned out to be a nice visit and I was happy that they stayed longer than originally planned. Yesterday was grocery day even though I hate doing it on a weekend. We did a huge shopping with pick-up from both Sams Club and the local supermarket ( well 2 actually because 1 didn't have everything we needed). It's nice to have curb side pick-up but it still requires lugging it all into the house and putting it away. We get our meat in bulk from Sams Club so that takes awhile to break it all down into dinner size portions and then we freeze it. Now the fridge and pantry is fully stocked and I'm hoping we can squeeze at least the next 3 weeks into this shopping trip. Usually I aim for 2 weeks but this time I'm going to see if I can stretch it even further. Tonight we're having chicken. If it doesn't rain it will go on the barbecue grill otherwise maybe a stir fry inside if the weather gets bad. That's what's going on here. Nothing exciting How was your weekend?

Hope you enjoyed having chicken. I dont like going grocery shopping as my wife takes too much time to buy things. Even though she makes a list still she keeps on adding the things while seeing them on the racks.

That's why I've been doing pick-up. Order ahead and they bring it to your car. No chance of adding stuff once you put in the order and it's saving me money. I used to always add stuff as I went through the store.

@Marilynda1225 Yes, but still a little sore if I turn my wrist a certain way, and my middle finger seems to hurt at the tip.

It was OK, went to the movies and Subway and hung out here. Sunday I did very little. We were trying to put on a door knocker but I think we will need a drill.

@Marilynda1225 Yes, he brought one down, but didn't have any drill bits with it...genius... I guess he was thinking it might work to screw the screw in, but I think it will require some holes drilled in, too hard to just screw in, although some people say they did.

Sounds like a good time to me (movies and Subway ) I guess you would need a drill to install a door knocker

@snowy22315 I would imagine that drilling the holes first would make installing it easier. Hope you're able to get it done sooner rather than later

I'm glad you had a good weekend and got to visit with your kids and the grandkids. (I don't remember getting the invitation for burgers, but that's okay. I was busy washing my hair at that particular time. ) I hope you got some more rain. You actually need it and don't necessarily need to barbecue again since you just had barbecue. A little rain would help push the temp back down, too.

@Marilynda1225 The invitation must have gotten lost along the way... I wouldn't have missed getting some of those burgers any other way! It would have been okay as long as your eyes didn't pop out and roll away, though. It started thundering around 5 pm yesterday and then a deluge stated falling. We got almost three inches so far and it's still raining. There's still thunder and lightning growling around outside, too. The forecast says it's possible we'll get another two to three inches before the storm is done with us.

@DaddyEvil When the family is together I'm used to my eyes rolling and so far they haven't popped out. Every one is a clown It's crazy how some parts of the US are getting a deluge of rain whereas others of us are so dry. Hope you don't get any flooding or damage with your storms.

I sent you an invitation for the barbecue and figured you just ignored it The burgers were good and we had them with bacon and cheese!! Between your sense of humor and my sons you both probably would have hit it off. I probably would have spent a amount of time rolling my eyes Yes we really need rain. Last night we had a drizzle which didn't do any good at all. Possible thunderstorms today but it's sunny so it's more likely we won't get any rain today. The grass is a beautiful shade of brown

We love our internet, but it's always better to live real life . Glad you had a nice, "longer" family visit! There is that sense of relief after grocery shopping - well, after it's all put away, that is . It's super hot out here, but we plan to go out in a bit - summer weather does not stop us .

@Marilynda1225 Born and raised here, and still here . . . we are used to the heat but not everyone is. My childhood here was actually not like this . . . we had plenty of rain and it was pretty green everywhere . . . it's gotten drier and drier - now it's the driest that I ever recall. We also don't use AC/heat which is unheard of here . . . it helps when we have acclimated our body to this and let it regulate the temps. Yep - I know I will get caught up with internet stuff and poof goes the time. I really need to get more things accomplished in real life. The bank is nice, but the small change doesn't make or break anything . . . so it is what it is. We just keep having fun here when we can .

Do you ever get used to the California heat or is it just something you live with? I've been taking weekends off from the internet for awhile and I find that it's beneficial since I can get lost for hours once I log on. Of course my myLot bank has fallen off considerably but I'm mostly here for the fun and not the money

@Marilynda1225 I am planning a fun morning for my hubs and I this Saturday, if he has the morning off from work. There is a former firehouse in a little lakeside town that was renovated and turned into a small town market. I would like to go there and then enjoy lunch out on the beach.

I enjoyed having a busy weekend for a change. I was getting bored with the same old routine even though my daughter and I always find something to do. It was nice seeing other faces

In India we can store for long as they rot even in the fridge at times, especially the vegetables. The fish and meat have to be marinated with salt, turmeric and oil and kept in the freezer to keep them fresh.
