Jenny's Adoption Day / myLot

I tried very hard to upload a photo of the beautiful sky I saw the other night. Instead, this photo popped up of the day we adopted our dog, Jenny, from the Humane Society 2 years ago. So I decided to post about that. We were so happy to meet her and at the time she was about 1 year old. She is now 3 and we love her to pieces. She is very smart and is a great companion. She loves treats and I think her favorite thing to do is to go for rides in the car with us. I am a HUGE believer in the phrase "adopt don't shop" because there are so many dogs in shelters that will be euthanized if someone doesn't adopt them. We found out that this Humane Society rescued Jenny and 3 other dogs from a kill shelter 2 hours before they were to be euthanized. We will be forever grateful. Have you ever adopted a dog from a shelter or pound?

My late mom adopted dogs from the animal shelters in southeast Louisiana. It was a great feeling to adopt two female dogs and a male dog in different years and give them at least 10 years of life at home before they passed away of old age.

I havent because they seldom have puppies in here. As I have different livestock around I need to know they will not hurt my other animals and you cant know that from a shelter. So I raise my own.

Our little dog Mush was a rescue and she's the love of our life. My daughter found her in a shelter surrounded by pit bulls. Mush is tiny and only abut 8 pounds and she looked so scared my daughter had to take her home.

Yes, no one should buy a puppy when there are so many in shelters. I adopted all mine one way or another, mostly from the streets because they were wandering alone or else were injured but Roscoe was adopted from the humane society, luckily the one here is a no kill shelter.
