Well, I had a rather flabbergasting call yesterday. The guy called that handles the Champion standby generators to let us know how much the electricians charged. They allow about $1,800 for labor. Anything over that, you are responsible for. The electricians sent him a bill for **$6,000**. I almost had a stroke. He said, however, that he never expected it to be that much; and that he would only charge us an extra $1,000; and he would "eat" the rest. Wow! Were we lucky! That was really nice of him. Breakfast - Vanilla yogurt Lunch - Leftovers from Texas Roadhouse. I took my leftover salad, added the leftover broccoli and carrots from my mixed veggies and the leftover chicken tenders and made myself a salad. YUM! Dessert/Snack - Key lime pie with decaf coffee Dinner - Leftover Meals on Wheels lunch - Tuna salad sandwich, 3-bean salad and pears I'm not used to eating this much in a day! What did you eat yesterday? Photo Credit: Pixabay

The electrician probably charged more because he knew the bill would go to the company and not you. They always seem to charge more when that is the case.

We had a longer way to the generator than they're used to. It was at the other end of a large ranch house. They spent 4 days and a couple of hours on the 5th day. That's a long time...

I think I may have had a stroke as well. Yeesh. BUT, good they were able to lessen the hit, and it appears by quite a lot. Good deal. For dinner I made braised pork steaks. For the braise I just had an 'almost empty' jar of Dijon mustard, and so I just added a little water into the bottle, shook it up to get all the flavor bits, and voila! For a side we just had a tossed salad and had a helping of some cucumber salad we had leftover.

@LindaOHio Was that $8,000 out of pocket or just total cost?

Still, $1000 is a whole lotta money ..... I swear plumbers, electricians and the like seem to be charging way too much for what they actually do.

I was on a fast and therefore took only fruit juice and Indian sweets. I ate puri, papaya curry and cold milk for dinner.

@LindaOHio To much of fasting can lead to acidity and gut trouble. I eat less but four times a day.

I made steak tacos for lunch and supper. It was thin steak but it was enough for two meals which was good.

Wow, I guess inflation hits everywhere. We're having leftovers today from what I cooked yesterday: meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and cabbage.

Yikes! I would have had a heart attack hearing about the bill from the electricians. You're lucky you didn't have to pay it. Last night we had sausage, peppers and onions with pan fried potatoes
