Rescue Day Eleven Years Today

Brendel rescued me and I rescued her eleven years ago today, in 2011. So happy I did. She has a few health issues. But she has been my baby for awhile now. These photos were taken a few years ago. I have this photo framed and on my wall actually. Since then she has lost a few pounds and she has kidney disease and chronic bronchitis. Both have no cure. Only treat the symptoms. Even with her health issues she lets the Dude (my other cat) know who is boss and who was here first. She is about a third the size of the Dude but is still the boss. He doesn't seem to mind. He has a whatever kind of mood. Happy to have her here. She turns 13 this month as well. When I rescued her, she was estimated to be about two years old. Happy Rescue And Birthday to Brendel. @luisga814 She is just sleeping all day in the screen room. I will give her a few extra treats later. With her health issues she doesn't eat much at one time.

@CarolDM Yeah. Cats typically sleep anywhere from 18/20 hours/day. Kittens it's closer to 22. So, sleeping all the time is par for the course. Chilly is healthy and spends most of his day sleeping. As does mama cat. It's good the kidney train is slowing down and her weight is stable. Amazing she'll be 13 soon.

She is still about the same. No weight loss. Still eating the 1/3 jar each day of baby food and a little dry food plus a few treats. She sleeps a lot but that is part of any cat aging I believe.

I totally agree. She sleeps most of the time these days. But always wants to be around her Momma.

Yes and it doesn't seem like I have had her that long. The only way it works to have the Dude is for his attitude to be like it is. Thank you.

What kind of food does she eat? I had a cat with this disease and he had prescription diet.

She couldn't tolerate the vet food he gave her. She eats baby food and dry food.

I was also a rescuer of a young kitty years ago. How about that! She was a dumpster cat foraging for food around the condo complex I lived in at the time. I was fortunate to have Spooky for 13 years before she became sick, and I had to have her put down. But they were enjoyable years, and I was glad to have Spooky in my life for that time. Cats make great companions, and their independent nature makes them easy to care for. Plus, they give back more to us than they ever take!

Thanks so much. She slept all day in the screen room and she is asleep in my lap now as we watch a football game. I think she has a good life.
