Change in Plans

Tomorrow morning I will be flying to Chicago for a paintball tournament over the weekend. I decided to go ahead and take today (Thursday) off from work so I could run a bunch of errands and take care of a few things before I left for the weekend. Basically just to catch up on things I just haven't had time to do.
But there's been a change in plans. First, yesterday at work all of us in my department started feeling like we were getting sick. And sure enough, this morning I woke up congested and achy all over. Not the way I had planned to start my day. And secondly, in addition to me not feeling well, it is pouring down rain outside. The heavy rain actually woke me up early this morning. The forecast shows it is basically going to rain all day long. And since almost all of my plans I had for today involved being outside, I now can scratch all that. So nothing I had planned for today is going to get done. I'm probably just going to lay on the couch all day trying to rest my body and beat this cold. Not exactly the way I wanted to head into a tournament weekend. But it is what it is.
I'm usually an optimist even in negative situations, so my first thought was that I get to spend more time on myLot today, and I just may. But the way my head is aching right now, I'm not sure how much time I will actually spend here. Like I said, I'll probably just lay on the couch most of the day.

It looks like a beautiful, sunny day here. Our high is supposed to reach 79F. I was asleep until Pretty woke me up to sign paperwork we need to send in for my disability payments. (Normally I sleep most of the day and play on myLot at night. The diuretic I take gets me up twice during my sleep to go for a pee break and then I check in on myLot for a few minutes and then back to sleep again.)
It's nice to see you, even if you aren't feeling well. I've got some new medicated eye drops that I'm using three times a day. They do make my eyes feel better but don't stop them from swelling up. *shrug*
I hope you feel better quickly.

@moffittjc Not yet. I've applied... and I don't think I told you yet. The doctors can't seem to stop my eyes from swelling closed at least once a week... sometimes for several days at a time. Walmart let me go January 2021.

@DaddyEvil I remember you telling me about leaving Walmart, but I don’t think you ever have a reason why. Sorry to hear about yours eye man. I hope you can find some answers soon.

Nah, I didn't have Covid again. I tested just to be sure, and the test was negative. But we did have another round of Covid make it's way through work again. I emerged unscathed and healthy as a horse.

@RubyHawk No, and the other depressing thing is that over time our immunity to it will start to decline. So it’s actually better to be exposed to it constantly to keep our immune system strong.

I grew up in the Midwest and loved visiting Chicago. I cannot remember how the weather is this time of year there. All I can tell you is how it is here in Jerusalem this time of year. It is very nice still this time of year.

Here a bad case of Rhinovirus is going around that is leaving people pretty miserable. I hope you feel better soon. My husband is flying to Chicago this weekend as well but for a trip he has to do for work. I don’t know many details about what he and his boss and coworkers are doing though.

I'm sorry that you woke up feeling so terrible, especially the day before you go away.
I hope that you can still go, and remember the strength that your buddy showed, and how proud he would be to see you push thru this to defend the sport that you love.

Nothing worse than getting sick and having plans potentially spoiled, but of course it happens. Ugh. I hope by the time this comment reaches you, you are feeling better as I am sure you are, and that you at least still had a successful tournament.

I felt better by the time the tournament started, although I wish I would have still been sick because it would have provided an excuse for how badly we played. The bad news was that we were eliminated by Saturday afternoon. The good news is that it gave me a free day on Sunday to do some sightseeing in Chicago. Lol

Sorry you got sick. I have been sneezing off and on. I think it's because my mother has been taking stuff out of the sun room and it's caused dust t be stirred up. I also have been cleaning out drawers. I threw away alot of stuff.
