Not in My Diet

I am noticing that my body is deficient in Vitamin A. I find that there is this nutrient in shrimp, beef, liver, fortified milk, sweet potatoes, carrots, eggs, pumpkins, mangoes, and spinach. Out of those I only like five and don't care at all for the others. I don't get much of the five. I take a multi-vitamin but I am seriously rethinking that approach. I have been taking them for several months now and have seen very little change. Any ideas?

Butter contains vitamin A and also celery, red bell peppers and broccoli if you like them. I did not know about shrimps.

@LadyDuck .......There are some things I can't chew. They would be on my list as well. I do enjoy their flavor.

Celery. That's what I need. I used to make stuffed bell peppers and quit cooking. Need to make some changes.

@celticeagle Bell peppers are among my favorite veggies, I like them grilled and seasoned with a little olive oil.

No, no ideas... but I do take supplements because the doctor prescribed them... If you eat five out of the list there, you're doing better than me. I only eat eggs, beef and carrots on a regular basis.

I don't do any of them on a regular basis. I'm going to get more Vitamin A and Carotene next month.

@celticeagle The different doctors told me to take D3, Vitamin C and Selenium along with my BP meds.

@DaddyEvil ........All good. Selenium is good for men and their sperm getting around.

A beta carotene supplement could help. It converts to vitamin A in the body.

@celticeagle I used to take it but since stopped. But I was never deficient, I took it for other reasons. But it does have other benefits and from what I understand it only converts what your body needs.

Based on the list of foods you wrote I assume I wouldn’t be even close to the amount I’d need daily so it’s good I take a multivitamin.

That was my way of thinking. Maybe I need to wait longer for a change to be seen.

Did a blood test confirm your Vitamin A deficiency? I would contact your doctor about that.
