Burrata wasn’t good

Went to eat at an Italian restaurant Saturday night. Ordered a pasta dish that had two Burrata on top. I was expecting to cut into it and have the inside of the Burrata ooze out into the pasta. That didn’t happen. Not even a little bit. And the outer part of it was like rubber. At least the pasta itself and the sauce were good. I believe the price of the dish on the menu said $28. When we got the check the price said $29.10. In fact, everything we ordered had some cents amount in the price and wasn’t what it said on the menu. I never saw such a thing before. Usually prices are in whole dollars, not in dollars and cents. I should’ve inquired why that is.

You're right, it should have oozed out over the pasta dish. Either that was made wrong or they cooked it on top of the pasta when it should have been added after the pasta was finished cooking. I would have complained about it... I've never seen any prices with cents showing on the menu. I would have refused to pay above the amount shown on their menu. They either need to change the menu or quit cheating people.

@lovebuglena I wouldn't go back because they screwed up your food!

All the stuff we ordered had a cents amount. I'd have to question the entire bill. Didn't want to deal with that. But I don't think I will go back there any time soon, if ever.

@DaddyEvil That but mainly the fact that the prices on the menu are not what you get when you get the check.

I have no idea what the Burrata is, but it did not sound like you got a good one at all based on your description. The pricing does seem off. Not sure what that's about. It might be a place to not return to. I would have called out the restaurant by name in my post. That way it winds up on the Internet and someone can find it. Sort of like a hidden review of sorts.

Hey, I can go to Yelp and write a review. I chose not to.

@lovebuglena Sometimes a review that isn't a review has more impact when someone finds it.

That was not a good burrata for sure. What a terrible idea to put a burrata on top of a pasta dish. I have never seen this happen in Italy.

It sounds delicious actually. I wonder if burrata got that way because they put it on top of the hot pasta or if it was bad initially.

@lovebuglena Burrata is always served cold in Italy. I remember a burrata served with a tomato sorbet, it was wonderful.

They must have taken an across-the-board % increase in their pricing. What is a burrata?

Burrata is a white Italian cheese made from mozzarella and cream. It is mozzarella on the outside and cream on the inside. When you cut it open the cream should ooze out of it.

Me neither. The idea sounded good. And perhaps it would have been had the Burrata been good.
