Lost . . . and found

Hubby came home yesterday afternoon. When I cleared his hospital room I took all the things that belonged to him, including a covered cup they gave him for his hearing aids until I brought him his actual case for them.
I got his hearing aid case, the box of batteries and filters, the glasses case, the neck pillow, etc. etc.
When we were laying in bed Bob said "I can't find my hearing aid case" so I told him where it was. I asked if he needed to put his hearing aids away and did he want me to get it. He said "no I will put them in the glasses case". Bear in mind that I never saw if he had them in or not, but I thought I remembered he said he did. He had two glasses cases in his bedside table.
Anyway he called me at work, saying he could not find his hearing aids. I asked him all of the "did you check here?" questions, and told him to look in the glasses case. He looked in the case we brought back from the hospital. Each of us called the hospital asking if they had been found to no avail. They were not at the hospital.
When I got home after a bout with a low tire on the car, I walked directly in the house, opened the bedside drawer and found his hearing aids, in a glasses case. He had worn them home, and to bed, so put them in a glasses case. Long story just to show you how confused we both are.
He is sticking to eating mostly small portions of fruit, and I make him eat one cracker before his pills. Success comes though in the fact I made him an ice cream shake and he drank about six ounces. He will begin to feel stronger as he eats more.
I hope pretty soon we will be able to find his appetite.

Yes, a mystery. I was glad I did not get all huffy with the aide at the hospital who answered my call. Talking to her helped me realize he must have brought them home.

@GardenGerty did you call back to tell them you have the case?

That’s the sign of old age: looking for your cell phone while you’re talking on it and it’s in your hand.
I’m glad he’s home, and I hope he keeps eating and building his strength.

@GardenGerty — when I had covid, Ensure was my buddy for three days. Can he drink that? I know it’s not food but it is better than nothing.

One or two bites at a time. He had just gotten to where he was eating well, without me pushing, then this new illness.

I'm so sorry you're going through this with him, I can't imagine how worried you must be all the time. I pray he will get better.

I'm glad the hearing aids were there and not left at the hospital.
Hopefully he'll start feeling a lot better quickly.

Yes, VA had provided these, and I was not sure they would replace them. They are excellent devices.

@GardenGerty I hope they would if needed. I didn't know they give them. That is good.

Glad your husband is home now & you found his hearing aid. He must be exhausted from hospital stay and his condition. You'll take better care of him.

We are both very tired. I was glad for the medical help. I can be a little more insistent about foods to eat with him.

Yes, it would have been easier if he had let me get up and get the hearing aid case from the next room, but you never know.

If I had gone to the next room and unpacked his bag and brought the case to him we would have avoided this, but he did not want to bother me. I am pleased his vision is good.

@GardenGerty Sometimes it feels like that. Things come in waves. Not sure why that is, but it just is. And then there is a calm before the next wave.

Sounds like what goes on around this joint, and I only have me to worry about! I spent 10 minutes looking for my purse this morning, that I had just had 10 minutes prior,. I found it in an unlikely place.
