The One That Forever Changed the Lives of Many myLotters

When I posted this originally, roughly three years ago, one could easily imagine that famous scene from Stephen King's movie, Stand By Me, when Gordie Lachance shared the story he wrote about a pie-eating contest gone terribly wrong.
There was puke everywhere and once the puke got started, everyone was puking.
Ah, the masterful imagination of Stephen King. A true master of horror.
But, of course, horror may have been the theme when I talked about a casserole I was going to make from a horrendous amount of left overs I had from a 4th of July party that left us overflowing with food.
After that one it is a wonder I am still here with any audience at all. Never before had I gotten more "No, just no" comments than on that one.
"You put freaking potato salad and coleslaw in a casserole????"
Yes. Yes, in fact I very much did. Along with hamburger meat, bratwurst and whatever else was in there.
I am certain the puke was flying as bad on that fateful day as was flying in Gordie Lachance's story. In one fell swoop and with one swift post I think I effectively managed to detroy many lives here on myLot.
People smelted their frying pans and broke all their China, vowing to never again land a single piece of food in their mouths ever again. They were forever destroyed, left unwanting of anything to eat ever again.
Plans were made for a big myLot party bash at my place, but no one accepted the invite.
For whatever it was worth, the casserole was actually quite delicious. But of course you are just going to have to take my word for it. lol
Parties are a lot of fun, and incidentally my wife and I hosted one this past Saturday. As is always the case, even though we had a LOT of people over, we had...

You're right. I'll just have to take your word for it.

It's funny, because I remember when you posted that discussion.
I never could understand how people get grossed out at food mixing combinations. It all mixes together when it's in our stomachs, so what difference does it make if it's mixed together before it goes into our mouths or after. As long as it tastes good.

@porwest How true. The mind can really limit how people see things. Or in this case, how they taste things.

I am the same way. I mean, heck, if I ever eat a buffet all that get comingled too, so I am with you on that. I don't see the difference—but people can really allow their minds to get in the way of thinking outside the box a bit sometimes.

I believe you when you say it didn't taste bad. Too bad I can't try it for myself.

@porwest As the saying goes "don't knock it till you try it." I've come across dishes that look really appetizing but when you taste them they are not.

@Nakitakona English. To puke means to throw up.

I am glad to hear that. I know no one will believe me, but this casserole was actually quite delicious. It may not have sounded good and was not much to look at...but it was good. My wife loved it.
Even she had her doubts before I made it. But after I did she told me, "Another genius dinner by my Schmoopie."
I think we boinked.
