Excitement From my Deck

That time of the year. I start feeding the fall and winter birds. I put out the whole unsalted peanuts on the deck.
My two favorite birds are the Blue Jays and the Cardinals and the Mourning Doves. I always remember the phone calls from my Dad and the conversations about the red birds.
I also enjoy seeing Woodpeckers, and many other species that show up.
I managed to capture four Blue Jays for this photo. Was inside, behind the glass doors. The gorgeous red Cardinals come very early and then very late in the day.
A challenge to get photos but I will eventually get more to share.
Photo is mine.

@DevMrSamEleazar So kind of you. Birds can be very challenging to photograph.

The Birds above look so cute ! Quite a sight to watch !
You would be busy for some time now to capture the photographs of the visiting birds.

I used to live where there were a lot of Blue Jays and Cardinals. The Blue Jays at my feeder were extremely territorial. They didn't want any other birds there at all, even most of their own fellow Blue Jays. I had to shut the feeder down when they started murdering littler birds who came to eat. In the end I was just scattering some bird seed on the ground, and the fighting eased up somewhat. Glad you can enjoy the birds, I do like to watch them, too.

There are bad sides to most birds. I look forward to seeing these birds every year. I know of their aggression but so far they are happy with the peanuts. I don’t have any small birds this time of the year. This is why I feed peanuts, I don’t want to attract the sparrows that kill the bluebirds as well as the babies in the spring. I never put out seed for this very reason.

Four blue jays, you supplied the munchies, all they need now is a deck of cards for a fun Saturday night.
I
My favorite bird, to watch, to see in flight, and to listen to is the cardinal, in particular the male cardinal.
He is so bright and pretty.
I also adore swans, they are so majestic when they are on the water and float past you. My heart skips a beat when I see them.

Blue jays are obnoxious, and I believe they sometimes eat smaller birds' eggs, but I love them. They were a part of my early childhood here in California. In Chicago, I use to watch the robins, cardinals, and sparrows (and of course, squirrels) from my desk.
