My son brought home a drum and covid

Thursday my son told his music teacher he wanted a Roto Tom drum set for his birthday. His teacher let him borrow one to try out which is a really cool opportunity. That night he started having a sore throat, chest tightness and a light cough. Friday morning he started running a fever of 100°F. I kept him home from school and tested him for corona. The line for positive was extremely faint. Friday after school my stepson said his throat hurt and it hurt to breathe. I retested my son Saturday morning and it was definitely positive. My stepson tested negative for now. Saturday morning the baby started running a fever and vomiting. It’s gotten up to 102.9. Cleaning up so much vomit is awful and I’m worried she’ll dehydrate so hopefully she gets better soon. So far my husband and I are healthy and the boys have quarantined as much as possible since they started feeling ill. Photo is of a tree I saw when I took my nephew geocaching this past week. Looks like this tree is sick as well as my kids.

@Daddyevil my heads starting to hurt but it’s 4am and I’ve barely slept so I feel like that’s kind of expected.

@shaggin I'd wait until this afternoon and then do one of the self tests if you aren't feeling better by then. Good luck, hon.

@DaddyEvil I don’t feel sick otherwise. It’s like a pain over my right eye. Once I get some sleep I’ll feel better. I have to retest my son again later today.

I am sorry that covid has hit your household. It is important to do what you are already doing, and keep everyone home and not let anyone out until this passes. I hope that you have some pedialyte, that will help anyone, especially your daughter, with dehydration.

@Juliaacv she’s really fussy about what she will drink. She won’t drink the pedialyte we have. I have plain and lemonade. I need to get another flavor when I can go shopping again to have on hand. She hasn’t vomited now in 6 weeks and has finally kept a bottle down. Still running a fever that doesn’t want to come down well or stay down.

@shaggin I imagine that pedialyte has an expiration date on it (its been decades since I've had to buy any) so it is probably better to wait to buy it until and if she needs it. Sunday is family day here, but today we only have Harper. Willow woke around 1am crying a bit, and was up for most of the night. She is home sleeping today, as is Mommy who was also up most of the night. Yesterday she thought that she saw a tooth in her mouth, so it could have been teething that kept her up. I have Harper down for her afternoon nap now, there is nothing sweeter than watching a baby sleep.

@Blondie2222 my stepson was negative yesterday but it was still early. The home test kids usually don’t show valid results until day 3. I’m not going to test the baby but will retest my stepson today. I hope your cold gets better soon. There is so much going around!

@Nawsheen both my boys had it 14 months ago. Their sense of smell never returned. They don’t seem to terribly sick now so that’s good.

@LadyDuck my son definitely has Covid. The baby has a fever and vomited many times last night but early this morning. I haven’t tested her. My stepson I tested twice now and Joe still shows negative.

@LadyDuck she got up once in the night which was fine. She hadn’t drank much during the day so I was glad she wanted more to drink. My stepson was only since for one day and felt fine after that. It’s day 4 and he’s still negative for corona so he went back to school today. My son feels good but had an occasional cough. He goes back to school the 5th. I woke up with a scratchy throat. I definitely feel like I’m coming down with something. My husband feels awful. Slept most the day and is nauseated and said he feels like he just can’t catch his breath. We both tested negative today for corona but will test again tomorrow again.

Soak some fennel seeds along with crystal white sugar in water for an hour. Strain it and give little by little to your baby. The vomiting will stop. Wishing your children a quick recovery.

@aninditasen that’s best I’ve never heard of that. So interesting to learn what others use in other countries. She hasn’t vomited in almost 12 hours now but is still running a fever that won’t stay down.

@shaggin You can fry some fennel seeds, grind it and make small balls out of them with honey. You can give the baby and the other children one ball in the morning. The fever will subside and they will not get it anymore.

@snowy22315 the worst is the baby vomiting all over and feeling so bad for her for how sick she’s feeling. She’s still running a fever but hasn’t vomited in 7 hours and has kept down a bottle and a half since then too so she’s making progress.

@much2say I was up until 4 or 5 with the baby. My husband asked if I needed help but I told him no. No point both of us being up not getting any sleep. Around 6 or so she woke up and took her downstairs while I slept until 8:30. I’m still so tired but am so appreciated he let me sleep.

@rebelann I looked at that link and it does look similar. It looks closer to what black leaf spot fungus is.

@marlina thank you. I was up with the baby until about 5 if I recall correctly. Then she finally let me lay her in her crib and she slept until around 6 when my husband got up with her and I slept until 8:30 when my son asked if I could get him food. Usually he would get it himself but with him having Covid I’m trying to keep them in their room as much as possible.

@andriaperry I can try to get him to use honey and lemon but he won’t even take the childrens multivitamin gummies I wanted him to take. I want him to take them daily but he hasn’t been and refused to take them yesterday. They have immune support so it would be good for him.

@jstory07 it is awful but thankfully my boys don’t seem to sick. I think the baby being sick is worse since she can’t tell me what she needs and you can tell she just feels awful. She had ibuprofen and drank half a bottle and threw that up 16 minutes later. She still fells warm but not as bad. I’m hoping she got enough down to last her the 6 hours until her next dose.

@Marilynda1225 my stepson was only sick for one day and still tested negative today on day 4 so I sent him to school. He has to wear a mask there until the 10th. My son goes back to a school the 5th and has to wear a mask until the 10th as well. My throat is scratchy today and my husband feels awful. Shaking with cold then super hot, hard to breathe. We both tested negative with a home test kit for Covid but we will continue to test each morning for a few days and I’m thinking my husband has it.

@Marilynda1225 there is so much going around here in my area. I don’t feel good but I’ve also felt worse. I tested myself again this morning and am positive for corona. I’m not going to bother testing my husband I’m sure he has it too. We started symptoms the same day. I’m vaccinated he’s not.

@shaggin I feel that since you and your husband were exposed to it you are both getting sick with it too. I hope the baby and you and your husband and anyone one else you love gets better. I heard those that got vaccinated have it not bad like those that were not. Here I know people that have had it. Too bad your son did not just bring home the drum and not the corona.
