A fancy but dated mirror

Do you remember when these ornate mirrors were all the rage? I don’t remember the year but once, such mirrors were the ‘must have’ in home décor. Fashions come and go in all areas of our life, including home decorations. Tomorrow is our last full day here and we’ll start packing up. We leave early Wednesday and it will be a busy day for us with errands to run once we get back to the city. We’ll walk and feed the dogs before we leave and we’ll water the vegetable garden. None of those things will take very long.

I hope the owners aren't too upset about the situation with the dog. It would be nice if they offered to help pay for the bill..

@JudyEv That is decent of them. Considering you guys actually caused the dog problem, although you had no clue THAT would happen.

We were in touch with the owners when it happened. They think it got the hayseed before they left but I don't think that's the case. In any event, they will foot the bill so we won't be out of pocket.

@snowy22315 We don't consider we caused the problem. We were allowed to walk them if we wanted to. It was just bad luck that she picked up the hayseed.

Yes I remember those mirrors being the rage. I even had one back in the "good old days" I don't have any idea where it went and probably gave it away one of the times I moved.

@JudyEv home decor changes as the years go by. Even I've changed the way I decorate compared to years ago. I look back at some pictures and say to myself "what was I thinking"

@Marilynda1225 In my Mum's time, everyone wanted flying ducks on the wall. Do you remember them?

Some of these items are more like 'crazes' and everyone wants one then something else comes along to take its place.

@allknowing He was certainly let out for a run but he can't be trusted not to run away so it was safest for us to go with him. He was off the leash until we got nearly home again then we'll put him on the least so he couldn't run off.

Nowadays everything is more functional. I have seen such decorative pieces during my younger days. I think you have done full justice to what you had intended to do.

Thanks. Some items immediately 'date' a place, don't they? I doubt you could buy a mirror like that now. I mean a new one.

We have one such mirror in our grandparents home in our native place. When we would visit them, all grandchildren would be fascinated by this one. It seemed straight out of Snow White story...Mirror, Mirror on the walk, who is the fairest of all
