Pleasantly surprised

I was able to be at the nursing home yesterday when the physical therapy doctor came by. I like him.
First surprise. . . he explained to Bob the importance of getting natural sunlight to help him strengthen his immunity. I had been telling Bob that, but it is good to hear a doctor talk about something besides medicine. He needs to open his blinds to get more, because he is still on precautions.
Second surprise. . . as he worked with Bob he commented on how much strength Bob has, and it is true, not just idle talk. They did some resistance exercises with the doctor pushing hard against each leg. Bob could push hard enough the doctor turned red in the face. Bob enjoyed the challenge.
Bob enjoyed most of his meal, even something I thought he would not. He is hungry. I can bring him peanut butter and crackers to snack on as he would like.
I am working a double shift at school today, then taking more stuff to Bob. There are tons of paperwork things I need to do.
I am not sure how I will keep up with Bob, my sister, and appointments, but I will give it my best shot. Talk to you soon.

@GardenGerty I know what you mean. My hubby has been pretty ill plus the cats need their meds and the dogs need to stay out of trouble and the dishes need doing. You know the route.

VA wanted him to have a few days of skilled nursing support, and this PT evaluation. He was only there six days.

That is wonderful. He really is improving, and hopefully this nursing home will be short lived. I know someone who was in one for a few months for rehab when she broke her hip but she was able to go back home. She is doing well as far as I know.

There’s something about the sun, whether it’s the warmth or the vitamin D or the psychological factor, that makes most people feel better. I hope Bob can get some sunshine outside while he’s rehabbing!

Now if he could just get some energy back it would be even better. We still have tons of appointments for follow up.

You must be very happy hearing all that from the doctor and that Bob is doing well. Sunlight is important for all of us.
I hope you can find a little bit of time for yourself with everything you have on your plate these days.

@GardenGerty I can imagine that you wouldn't' know what to do with some 'down time" since I think you don't get 'down time' very often

Beyond the vitamin D the actual sunlight triggers an immune response.Good all around.

What good news! I'm so glad Bob has a good physical therapist, is strong and wants to eat!!! Make sure you think about yourself too. You must stay strong and rested for yourself and Bob. Have a good weekend.

No wonder why that you liked the physical theraphy doctor of Bob. That's a good opportunity for Bob to recover gradually.
