The Word For Today Is....COLD

Brrr and Happy Thursday Everyone! today is hovering around the freezing mark with mostly cloudy skies. No sun makes it feel even colder. My house is toasty warm but I opened the door to take a package off the porch and got a blast of cold air in my face.
Even the dog is curled up on her blanket on the corner of the couch and it doesn't look like she's moving anytime soon
I got most of the things I needed to do done so that's a big accomplishment for me and it's only noon.
My daughter and I are seriously thinking of taking the tub out of the upstairs bathroom and replacing it with a shower. My son came for a visit yesterday and looked at what the job would entail, measure, etc . He has done full bathroom renovations before but we would only want the tub removed and replaced with a shower so that would be more cost effective than a total gut job.
I would still have a big soaking tub in my bathroom so it wouldn't be as if the house had no tub if we ever decided to sell.
Of course this won't be done until after the holidays but I'm really leaning more toward yes than no.
I know it would be so much nicer for my daughter if she had a shower .
I feel like I have a million things on my mind all squashed in there with Thanksgiving next week and Christmas right around the corner.
Meanwhile today is flying by and my daughter will be getting her lunch break soon.

I would love to get one of those walk in shower jobs in teh second bathroom, and they have lots of enticing deals, but honestly, I would prefer to get the deck rebuilt. There is always something to spend your money on! You are right it is cold...not as cold here as where you are, but going to be a might nippy tonight. Probably will be 22 the next two nights.

@Marilynda1225 Well yes, I will have to try to get ready aft er holidays. They say by 2024 home prices will be way down...so it is probably now or never. I just feel such angst over it though. My son keeps saying he is going to come back and if he could help me it would make all the difference, but he is not trustworthy unfortunately. We will see what happens.

I don't have any intentions of moving anytime soon so I think this would be a good move for us to put in a shower. I'm lucky my son can do the job so all I have to pay is for materials.
Do you have a big deck? I would love to redo mine and I would love a Trex so there's no maintenance whatsoever. But it's out of my price range and I don't want the hassle of dealing with the HOA.
Are you still thinking of moving?

@snowy22315 do you really think home prices will go so far down that you won't have the opportunity to sell and move? Guess it would be helpful if your son was coming back and that would make your decision different I assume.
I always believe that everything works out the way it's supposed to. I"m sure it will all work out for you too and you'll know when the time is right

I am lucky as it is still very warm or even hot here. Today it is about 20-28 centigrades. I still wear like summer although it is about to winter. The weather has become very strange. I wonder it may become cold next month. It seems to be late than usual.

We had unseasonably warm temperatures up until recently and now it's gotten really cold. I think the weather has been crazy all over the world lately

@Marilynda1225 I went out to pick some more hot peppers in the garden and I had to take out the sweater, here it is incredibly warm, it's nor normal.
We also have the tub in the master bathroom and a shower in the smaller one and in the guest bathroom.

I think we're going to have an early winter this year as the temperatures have gotten quite cold this week.
I love a nice hot bath in winter too and I have a big soaking tub as well as a shower in my master bathroom. The tub we would replace would be in the other bathroom as this is the bathroom my daughter uses and she rarely takes a bath and always showers. If she ever wanted to take a bath she could use the one in my bathroom.

We hope to replace our tub with a walk-in shower/tub. It will be much safer than trying to get into the tub to take a shower. If we get one with jets, it should increase the value of the home. So much to think about this time of year! Just take one thing at a time and you will be fine!!!

That's why we're thinking of replacing the tub with a shower as my daughter is having a hard time stepping in and out of the tub for a shower. She rarely takes a bath.
I think those walk-in shower/tub things are a good alternative. Much safer too

@Marilynda1225 I never take a bath and would want the shower option in the walk-in tub. Hubs is looking forward to a bath with the jets.

Years ago when I thought I’d never have more children I thought about getting rid of the tub too but I’m glad I didn’t know.
It’s 32°F here. Same as it was yesterday.
I prepped dinner this morning and usually mop while my baby is sleeping but I have to take my older daughter to the bank and grab another Ingredient at the store for the meal tonight.

@Marilynda1225 i got lucky and the baby took a really long nap so I was able to mop the floor
.
We had creamy chicken noodles yesterday along with sweet potato tacos. Today we are having those leftovers plus twice baked potatoes.

I think it's important to have at least one tub for situations just like yours. LIttle kids need a tub
Hope your days goes well and you can get what you need for your dinner. We're having pasta

It's not that cold here, yet and we've got more sun today than we've had over the past few days. Looking forward to things warming up for a while. At least it didn't drop 30 degrees or more as rapidly as it's done before.

You always have worse cold and snow there than we have here. I don't know if I could deal with those winters but probably could have when I was much younger.
I am very lucky my son is able to do all sorts of remodeling. I was worried about him when he was finished with high school and didn't have any direction in what he wanted to do with his life. He was always the type who couldn't sit behind a desk so when he went to school for plumbing and electrician he's been able to start his own business and support his family.

@Marilynda1225 It was weird having to actually get dressed up and go out the door for the entire day.
Now I am on vacation for a week.

It is warmer outside now at 1:20 pm (40F) than it was at 6 am (19F) but the sun is shining and not a cloud in the sky. (I got my shower a little while ago and my hair will not be tamed today. It is curling and frizzing all over the place. I finally pulled it into a ponytail just to keep it out of my face.
)
Thanksgiving is next week?
I hope you're enjoying your day.

40 degrees sounds like a heatwave compared to 19 . We've only had intermittent sun these past few days so you must be hogging it up there. Please share
Now I would certainly like to see a picture of your hair untamed

I love my tub. So I would not want a shower only and we only have one bathroom.

I wouldn't give up a tub either if I only had one bathroom. We have 2 full and 1 half baths so giving up one tub wouldn't be a problem.

@Marilynda1225 For me as an older Australian, I always feel a bit guilty about how much water they take - a bath, that is.

Hope you get some sunshine so that the bird bath unfreezes. Those poor birds would have a hard time pecking at the frozen water
My house is toasty warm too and I have no plans on going outside. My daughter can bring in the mail when she takes the dog out

Yes, it's that time of year when opening the door brings in a cold blast of winter air.
It sounds like you have renovation work ahead of you. Good luck with it.
