It Was a Good News Weekend

Happy Monday Everyone!
The weekend was busy and flew by. Today is my laundry day along with basic house stuff.
We got the Christmas tree up over the weekend but it's still not decorated. I want to get the house cleaned and ready for decorating once Thanksgiving is over on Thursday.
Thanksgiving is my first priority as I have some side dishes to make to bring to my daughters house. This year the whole family will be together and I'm excited because it's the first Thanksgiving in a few years that all my kids and grandkids will be together.
Aside from all the holiday thoughts taking over my brain I'm happy to tell you my good news.....my oldest grandson got engaged on Saturday!!
Last time I saw him he told me he was going to get a ring but didn't know when he'd pop the question. I pretty much expected it on Christmas but he surprised us by announcing it on Saturday. I'm so happy for them and it's especially nice when his now fiance already fits into the family very well.
My daughter in law is even more excited because she has 4 boys and now she says she's finally get a daughter

It's very exciting news hearing that our family is expanding. They've been going together for awhile so now it's will be official to welcome her into the family. The great part is she fits in well with everyone
My side dishes will be mashed turnips, a broccoli cheese bake, an apple pie and possibly some cookies

Oh, wow! Congratulations are in order, I see. I hope their marriage is long and fruitful!
We've already gotten Thanksgiving out of the way here. Pretty wanted smoked turkey yesterday so I cooked it, made mashed potatoes and fried green beans to go with it... It was all delicious.

@Marilynda1225 No, we don't have a smoking shed here. When I was growing up on the farm, we smoked our own meats.

@DaddyEvil my son in law is always talking about wanting a smoker since he loves to bbq. I'm sure he's referring to the kind thats smaller and fits on the patio. I'm sure having a shed for smoking meats was awesome. Would you believe I had always wished I had grown up on a farm

Did you smoke the turkey yourself? I know smokers are a big thing these days. Glad you and Pretty enjoyed your early Thanksgiving.

Oh wow, and you were just talking about him last week, wondering what he waiting for...lol. That's ironic. It is a busy time of year for sure. Also, Maryilyn, Thanks for asking about friend. He is doing OK, but his insurance would not pay for his cat scan. I don't think he has Medicare. I think it is a private policy, and not that great if they won't pay for that...
. His doctor is going to recommend some alternative tests for him. He is feeling decent I guess.

It's funny how you were just talking about wanting to go to a wedding and I didn't think we'd be having one anytime soon. Well the surprise was on me cause I certainly didn't expect that news this weekend.
That really sucks that your friend has to pay for his cat scan.. I guess he's too young for Medicare. Hope his alternative tests come back okay and I'm still keeping him in my prayers

@oahuwriter I hope you e joy your Thanksgiving. Certainly doesn't need to include a turkey. I would almost rather have your burger with mushroom gravy. That's what's great about myLot

Our family, decided, no holiday celebration, because, everyone's mostly gone to heaven. Si I'm on my own. I'm having a simple meal of hamburger steaks and mushroom gravy and can corn with tiny pies, you know, the ones from Walmart. Home, tv and my little meal. It's ok. Mylot, makes life nice.

Yesterday kind of sucked, but today is much better. Tonight is my laundry night. I have a few things extra to wash today, and a little packing to do. We're headed to our favorite staycation place to spend what George likes to call Thanksgiving eve. It's not recognized like Christmas eve or New Years eve by most people but we seem to have our own way of talking.
