A 'before' photo of our latest project

The photo shows the brick path we are paving for a couple who are having a run of bad luck at the moment. The man of the house did the part you can see but then had a very serious motor-cycle accident and will be in hospital for a long time. Our niece and the man’s wife are friends. We are helping our niece and her father to finish off the path. We have to lay bricks to the right-hand edge of the photo where you can just see the car. When we’ve finished the path area, we are going to pave where the stacks of bricks are at the moment. The lady hopes to put a small table and chairs there where they can sit. The foreground is a cement slab and the ‘spots’ on it are flowers from the neighbour’s jacaranda tree. The path is now ready to pave but we can’t go back till Thursday. Hopefully, I’ll have an ‘after’ photo to show you on Thursday.

@JudyEv The rosemary has very deep roots, you have to dig today. I had to trim my very big rosemary bush the past summer and cut many branches, those pieces of wood will be good for the fireplace, they burn well and smell good too.

@LadyDuck I have seen a rosemary bush with big enough wood to be bothered burning. I can imagine the smell would be very nice.

It will be easy to finish off the path but the area to the side will be more problematic. It's a very small space but to make it bigger we'd need to remove two rose bushes and a rosemary bush.

I forgot to mention there is a camera above the steps and the guy in hospital can watch us work apparently. I must be sure not to pick my nose.

@JudyEv I'm sure the couple will be happy with whatever you all can do to help them get more of it done, even if you don't get everything finished.

I must have taken the photo early in the piece. The path will be the same width all the way. It curves just a little at the end.

@cool83 We're finishing off the path in the photo so from where the bricks stop to the driveway on the extreme right of the photo - perhaps 2 to 3 metres.

This is the REALLY 'before' photo. The path is the same width all the way now, nice and level, and has sand on it. There is also a sort of sandstone edging on the far side. I hope I don't forget to take a photo at the end.

The jacaranda tree is out of sight on the right and in the neighbour's place. A big limb hangs over the driveway. These are jacarandas. They were in Europe somewhere.
