I’m Sewing Again

My picture of a quilt I made.

I hope I haven’t written about this earlier. I haven’t used my sewing machine in several years but I looked through my trunk of new material and decided it’s time to get back in the sewing groove. I decided I’d make pillow cases for Christmas gifts. I found pretty material that works perfectly. I got my sewing machine out of the closet for the first time in years to see if I remembered how to use it. I checked out my thread and found I had the correct colors. Looked over the sewing machine and found my biggest problem would be threading the needle. But I did it and began sewing. Surprise, I hadn’t forgotten a thing. I’ve sewn four sets of pillow cases and have one more set to go. I haven’t cut that one set out yet. I found patterns I’d forgotten I had. Pants, blouses, skirts, pajamas and dresses. The patterns are about a size larger than I need now. So, I’ll see how it goes. I made the quilt in the picture. Have you tried anything new lately?

This is a beautiful quilt and I almost thought it was sold in the store. Although we have a sewing machine, but just my mom knows how to use it.

I used to sew a lot. I made most of my clothes and sewed quilt tops. Maybe I’ll do some of that again.

Wow, that looks like a lot of work. I don't have the patience or eyesight to sew like that.

I think that using the sewing machine is the same as biking. Once you learn you never forget. I use mine time by time.

@RubyHawk - I only ride the recumbent bike, our roads are too steep, I do not feel safe. I sewed two pillow cases, two runners for the table and I have to tighten some pairs of pants for my husband because he has lost a lot of weight.

@LadyDuck I should tighten up some of my-older pants but I’ll wait awhile. I might gain my weight back when I start eating bread, if I ever do.

I think so, but I don’t know if I could ride a bike again. What do you make on your sewing machine?

My sewing machine is lying idle. It needs repairs. I informed the machine but he still hasn't come. Moreover I have pain in my legs and so am not insisting but I do want to sew.

I need to get back to sewing myself. The pillowcases are a great idea. I have not done anything new or creative in a long while.

I love the designs. Anything new...hmm not really..but I thinking of challenging myself to make one recipie out of my multitude of cookbooks every week. They are just gathering dust and should be used.
