Just Before Daylight.

When serious problems strike us right and left and we question: " why me"?. We can counter that question with another - "Why NOT me"? When Covid struck in 2020 it proved that sickness and adversity is no respecter of persons. It hit the rich and the poor, the strong and the weak, Kings andQueens, religious and non-religious.. The fact is that rain falls on everyone and the sun shines on everyone - the good, the bad and inbetween. The important thing is how we handle adverse situations and also accept the fact that life happens. Those of us who are feeling overwhelmed right now , just remember - the darkest time of night is just before daylight. Hold on to the faith that better times are coming. Do you have any special hopes and aspirations for 2023? Pixabay image.

Peace on earth. On a personal level, a healthy and peaceful life is good enough for me.

I'm really, really hoping my disability is approved. We have a lawyer babysitting my paperwork through the government agency that needs to approve it. My eyes swell shut at random and there's nothing that seems to stop that from happening. Nobody will hire me and Pretty is agoraphobic and has panic attacks if she is forced to leave the house. I'm lucky to get her to go to doctor appointments. We need this...

@Kandae11 We only get a text message from the lawyer if she needs something from us and not very useful information back. We're in the re-evaluation stage right now, whatever that means. I have hyperthyroidism and an unnamed autoimmune problem that is causing the swelling around my eyes. I've been told other people have the same problems but not as badly as me... The doctors prescribe something and then I have to fight the insurance to actually receive the meds the doctor prescribed. (I've had a prescription for eye drops that will supposedly help for six months but the insurance says I don't need them so they won't pay for them. Without a job, I can't pay for them, either. *shrug*)

Your comment has brought a tear to my eye , because l am thinking, you must have your disability approved. Why can't they see that? I hope your lawyer is doing his or her very best. About your eyes, have you done all the checks? Why can' t they tell what is wrong and find some solution to the problem.

@DaddyEvil l suppose you have done your own research on the condition. I have found that what we eat could sometimes worsen or lessen symptoms of certain conditions. Try whatever is in your ability to control in the meantime . l am being positive that your disability will be approved. Hopefully your symptoms disappear with the right diet, or that the persons calling the shots with your insurance have a change of heart.

I hope that I can walk better this year. I am on therapy and with a special health plan from the government so it is not so expensive. But still it is very expensive because I have to take Uber for therapy. I have learned how to do the exercises my myself so maybe the doctor goes on giving me the meds but stops the therapy for some time.

@Kandae11 I hope so. I don´t want to have to depend on my children because they have their own problems.

@marguicha. That feeling of dependency is not a nice one , especially when one is accustomed to being in control of one's movements.

That is a good plan. After a few sessions with the therapist, try to do the exercises yourself. Whatever you decide be sure to continue to follow the doctors instructions. Then 2023 will see you walking much better.

@Kandae11 I've used sleeping pills for years and they work most of the time, but trying to find a comfortable position is hard. I can't take too many NSAIDS because they'll cause rebound headaches for migraines. Bummer.

You are so right. I struggle with certain issues right now . . . but the more I talk to others, it seems even though situations may be different, EVERYONE has some kind of struggle. And yes, we each have to deal with our own struggles. I have a whole list of things to do from here on out . . . each day I am trying to knock 'em out one by one.

@Kandae11 Thank you . . . I will try my best . Or as Yoda would say, "Do or do not. There is no try." That is true . . . you never know people's back stories . . . not all may be how it seems. Not even queens and kings who are served hand and foot are free from any suffering . . . it is part of life no matter who you are.

Keep on pressing on and knock them out one by one. One of the important things l have learned in life is that we should never look at another person who seems to have it all and think they are free from hurts and struggles - not true. Anyone living on the face of this earth will face stresses and struggles in varying levels, all part of the privilege of being alive.

I believe in our ability to adjust to adversity. Maybe the poor are more adept at that score. My hope is for our big leaders to act with more wisdom. After all, their decisions affect the poor more especially during wars. There is no issue that cannot be solved through peaceful means.

Oh, I think I have too many hopes and aspirations at times. I try so hard and it just doesn't always work out, but that's typical of everyone. I have been rather overwhelmed lately and it's been stressful. I just really want everyone to be peaceful, happy, healthy, and get along together. I know that's a really tall order.

I agree it is a tall order, but someone said "we can live in hope or die in despair". I know what it is like to be overwhelmed , and when that happens l take some time to count the things l can be thankful for. Some people have life easier than others but we are all humans and anything is possible.
