Eat Me

I went to Onederland Sunday. It was a birthday party for a one-year-old girl. The theme was Alice in Wonderland. The sweets table had a lot of colorful treats. One of them was a big violet French macaron and on it EAT ME was written in big letters. I love French macarons so of course I took one. I wondered will I shrink in size or get bigger once I devour it? Of course, neither happened. Nor did I enjoy the macaron much. It was way too sweet for me. It was also very crunchy which I found weird. And the inside wasn't as soft as I thought it'd be. No seconds for me.

@lovebuglena Macarons are soft and they taste of almonds.

Yep. The cookie part (or whatever you call it) was crunchy.

I like that Onederland . . . a good 1 year old birthday party theme! In fact you only had one macaron . Yah, some of the macarons out there are not good - not sure why - but I heard they were hard to make perfectly.

@lovebuglena I know there are packaged store ones now - in the frozen section too I think. But if they were ordered and made, I would expect them to be good!

They are definitely not easy to make. But I bet the place they ordered the sweets table from have done them many times so they should know how to make them well.

@much2say I got them at Trader Joe's once. They were frozen. They were actually pretty good.

Not cooked or done very well, it sounds like. Cute theme item though.

Definitely a cute/fun theme for a birthday party for a little one.

It is. I was really looking forward to devouring that French macaron. And maybe more than one.

I bought the most delicious-looking cupcake once but it was so, so sweet it wasn't enjoyable at all.

Some things look so appetizing but once you try them they don’t taste that good. But we eat with our eyes first...

I don't care for macarons. I'm glad you didn't shrink or get bigger.

I also love the coconut macaroons. Usually eat them for Passover.

Indeed I was. Bummer when something looks really good but isn’t really good when you eat it.

@lovebuglena I know too much about macaroons. Very tasty. Meringue can be tasty, too.

I'm not a big sweets person. Maybe the thing had been sitting there for awhile.

The sweets table was made for the party specifically. I doubt they were not made fresh.

This post was an entire disappointment. I thought it might have been an enticing offer. As for macarons, I am not a fan.

I guess the title could be interpreted in different ways. Especially if people have a creative imagination. The French macarons, if done expertly, are a heavenly treat.
