Hotel Coffee Troubles

If I have not mentioned it, I got to have my coffee. And when I travel on business it is not uncommon for me to ask for extra coffee packets so I can have as many cups as I want.
Many of the hotels have coffee available in the lobby. But I don't want to go down there if I don't have to.
But this time the coffee pot did not work. Dammit. Not to fear, I am resourceful and I just steep the "pod" packets in my cup and use the microwave to make the hot water.
It's not the end of the world, just a little bit frustrating and inconvenient. But I did leave a note for the maids when they come in to let them know to replace the maker.

I can't function without my morning coffee. Hope they replace the maker so you can use it

I have read many stories about the fact that those coffee makers in the rooms never get cleaned or sanitized, so I usually don't use them when I stay in hotels. I will usually venture down to the lobby and get my coffee there (not that they do any better with the cleaning of those units haha). But I'm like you though, I have to have my coffee, so I will admit I've resorted to tactics like yours in the past. Whatever it takes, right?!

@porwest I agree. It’s better if we don’t know what we don’t know about hotel rooms. Lol

I don't trust the ones with the pots. But the single cup makers? While not perfect I am sure, I trust them more and am willing to give them a go. It hasn't killed me yet, and I guess what I don't know won't kill me either...
That I am aware of.
As for the picture in my post, this was a way I remedied not using the pot. I just put in enough water to make one cup and put the cup in the pot. lol

@moffittjc Hotels can be interesting places in and among themselves. I mean, never EVER turn a black light on in a hotel room!

I am confused here lol. You pour the water into a cup and then place the pod inside it? And then what?

First world problems. I'm sorry your coffeemaker didn't work. Drive safely and have a good trip.
